Mr Joel
3:11
Not write now. Unless you mean the hunted?
Mr Joel
3:12
Do you want to be the person in the canoe/kayak?
Olivia
3:12
Kayak?
Mr Joel
3:13
Yes it's a kayak but we can call it a canoe
Olivia
3:13
Yes
Mr Joel
3:13
So Olivia is going to write from the perspective of the shark first. What about you Ellice?
Ellice
3:15
What do you mean by write now it is right now
Mr Joel
3:15
I mean, are you writing from your perspective (the hunted, canoeist) or from the shark?
Ellice
3:15
I will do the hunted
Mr Joel
3:15
ok
Think about…
• How will you contrast the relaxed situation and atmosphere of the canoeist with the imminent danger that he has yet to perceive?
3:16
Remember you/or the canoeist doesn't know the shark is there...just yet - maybe he never will.
3:17
Independent Writing Task:
Write a short passage that describes the scene of a shark (the hunter) approaching a helpless canoeist (the hunted).
Olivia
3:18
Searching for my next victim, I spot somebody, as I look at them and think to myself who do they think they are? do they even know what roam this part of the ocean!
Mr Joel
3:18
Change it to the third person.
Mr Joel
3:20
Searching for its next victim, the shark sensed something. It was quite a distance away but it was there.
Olivia
3:21
Searching for their next victim, the pesky shark, spots their next victim, their thoughts are so sincere who know what thoughts they have
Mr Joel
3:21
Superb. Change it to the man in the boat now. How is he feeling?
Ellice
3:22
My heart beated like a drum my head was determined to find that sharks treasure he had been selfishly hiding for himself
Mr Joel
3:22
Remember you are relaxed. Enjoying the sunshine...what else could you be doing?
Ellice
3:24
Enjoying the sunshine, I was sitting in my canoe no negative thoughts ran through my head it was just me and the Hawaiian sea's
Mr Joel
3:24
Love this.
Now you can use something similar to what Olivia wrote.
Olivia
3:27
With no care in the world, apart from myself of course I suddenly feel more relaxed by the minute, glaring up at the sun I feel grateful for my life. As I immerse, my hands into the water they begin to feel hydrated.
Mr Joel
3:29
I love the words hydrated and immersed.
Olivia
3:29
Thankyou.
Mr Joel
3:30
Now continue from the point of view of the shark. Is it closer, what is it doing now? Think carefully about being a shark.
How would it move?
Olivia
3:30
Is it third person again?
Mr Joel
3:31
Yes please.
Ellice
3:34
Searching for its next pray ,the despicable shark, spoted  yummy flesh waiting to be eaten
Mr Joel
3:34
Would it know it was yummy flesh? What would it sense? What would it see from deep below in the ocean?
Olivia
3:38
As this sinister creature, who is used to the water, made its first attempt to strike at its victim, didn't succeed due to the kayak, sailing diagonally and this mighty sea creature was too busy thinking about how this human would taste.
Mr Joel
3:40
The sun blazed down on the crystal clear calm ocean. Basking in the heat, the canoeist dipped his toes into the cool water to try and combat the soaring heat.
Noticing a disturbance, the creature turned and slowly approached the ripple.
Reaching into the cool box, the canoeist grabbed an ice cold can. Relaxed, he wiped his sweaty brow with the cold aluminium tin before cracking open the drink and gulping it down.
The menacing shadow appeared.
Unaware, the canoeist continued to dangle his legs in the water. His hands dipped in as he splashed his chest in an effort to cool himself. Oblivious to the fact he was no longer alone, he lowered his hat to cover his face and let the natural rhythms of the ocean sooth him into a slumber.
3:41
Ellice, use this as some inspiration. Write your own when you have some time and post it on Seesaw.
Olivia
3:42
Mr.Joel I liked the words you used, especially at the end.
Mr Joel
3:42
Do you see the difference from each point of view?
The sentences about the shark don't need to be long.
Ellice
3:43
Unaware of what expected danger was coming for him the panelist enjoyed his time
Olivia
3:43
Yes, they don't need to be that long.
Mr Joel
3:44
Same task for you Olivia. Doesn't have to be today.
