Jason Mackey

He never went through it. Went back to Pittsburgh. He knew he would be flipped.

Why do Pens consistently overpay people who only benefit from being on the best team in the world?
Jason Mackey
2:58
Can you cite an example?
Haven
2:58
Agreed there, as a Pens fan I’d love to trade Sheary for Hjallmarsson... but from Phoenix perspective what can I really expect from Sheary @3mil for 2 more years when he hasn’t produced even with Crosby this year
Sean Gentille
2:59
If you're talking about Conor Sheary, just say Conor Sheary.
Jason Mackey
2:59
Four goals in 40 games, right? Other teams have eyes and scouts, too.
Stew
2:59
What is going on with Paul Martin this year was he injured?
Jason Mackey
2:59
That and not very good.
Adam
2:59
Im so pissed that u took rutherford from carolina cause now our gm does not even know you can trade for good players,Its a joke
Jason Mackey
2:59
I'm sorry. I'll bring him back when I'm done, promise.

Have you heard on any updates on finding a medium to long term winger for Crosby?
Sam Werner
3:00
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's 3 p.m. We'll see what trickles out over the next little while here.
Jason Mackey
3:00
No. That isn't really a focal point for this team right now.
Sean Gentille
3:00
There are always post-deadline moves that get announced. Sometimes a lot.
JimTraficant
3:00
I would take a Sheary (generic speedy winger) for Hjalmarsson in a heartbeat. Are you saying no to that?
Jason Mackey
3:00
I would take Sheary.
JimTraficant
3:00
Paul Martin was terrible in Pittsburgh, letting him go was a God send for fans.
Jason Mackey
3:00
I liked Paul a lot, but Dumoulin has been much better.
Pens fan in Philly

If Brassard is 3C then the fourth line is: Sheahan, Rowney, Kuhnhackl? Obviously they need PK guys; but that means 2 of Simon, Aston-Reese, Sheary are out and no spot for Sprong.
Jason Mackey
3:01
You could still see ZAR or Simon in that spot. Potentially Rust if Sully tries to spark some offense.
Big Steeler Fan

Any issues with keeping both Brassard ($3M Cap hit) and Sheahan ($2-$3M, probably) next season or is that to much invested in the third and fourth line centers?
Jason Mackey
3:01
Not at all. That's the plan.

What did you guys think of the Bruins getting smash?
Sam Werner
3:02
So nothing came of those Karlsson/WSH rumors
Sean Gentille
3:02
At my old job, I wrote about Rick Nash a lot. I'm glad to not feel the need to have an opinion about him anymore.
3:03
But everyone has always wanted him to be a little more than he is.
3:04
Josh Jooris to the Penguins
3:05
He's a fourth-line winger. Nothing much beyond that.
Sam Werner
3:06
Jooris has three goals and three assists in 31 games for Carolina this season. Depth addition, it seems like.
Sean Gentille
3:07
He got waived last month. Saw that Greg McKegg might be the return.
Does everyone remember Greg McKegg?
Sam Werner
3:07
Oh wow I remember him.
Sean Gentille
3:07
Vegas got Tomas Tatar and made a late push for Karlsson, per McKenzie.
3:08
Lightning got McDonagh, reportedly
Sam Werner
3:08
That's not a bad Karlsson consolation prize.
Sean Gentille
3:11
Man, McDonagh finally got away from Girardi, and now this.
Sam Werner
3:11
McDonagh a good (and probably necessary) addition for the Lightning, but doesn't really strike fear in the Penguins the way a Karlsson acquisition would.
Sean Gentille
3:12
VGK gave up a 1, 2 and 3 for Tatar. That is hilarious.
