Yeah, I thought it was a bit odd that Rutherford referred the other day to some WBS d-men they felt good about. There's not a whole lot of NHL experience down there. Corrado? Trotman? Pedan? Probably some posturing on his part.

That's not Cole's game. He might hit them, but he's not a dirty player at all. I think Columbus would try and hit Sid and Geno whether or not Reaves was around.

Madden has been talking about Sidney play of late, and that much of it is because of bad line play. Besides Simon how much of a difference is it between last year? The best player in the world can struggle. I feel in the past they have always messed with Geno because if someone is playing well with him just put him with crosby now. I do agree Guentzel should be with Sidney. No need to load a third line. Bassard and Kessel are enough with (fill in the blank) linemate.

I would like to see Brassard with Rust and Kessel. Try Sid and the Kids, then Malkin with Hornqvist and Hagelin. I think they need to let Sid settle in with linemates. He likes continuity. They should feed that. Sheary is most valuable -- and really only valuable -- with Sid.

FYI, Jordie Benn is signed through 2019 with a $1.1 mil cap hit. Would fit the mold of low-cost, non-rental additions.
