As a Pens fan living in Raleigh, every trade deadline I find it comical that the Hurricanes let GMJR go. Those poor, poor fans.

Again, this is absolutely not true. He's a 6/7 dman who'll play like 13 minutes in the playoffs, if it comes to that. People are really panicking because of the Panthers game, which is fine, but jeez.

Panera is awesome. The Penguins didn't let Cullen. He wanted to leave ... for family reasons. Believe me, if he's available, they would love to add him. We just don't know if he is.

With all the talk about locker room leadership, does the trade of Cole and Reaves hurt that? And does giving Phil a different center create challenges, or is Brassard just that good? Thanks!

Brassard is that good, No. 1. No concerns there. As far as leadership, Reaves and Cole weren't it. No offense to those guys, but locker room leadership with the Penguins starts with Sidney Crosby. He's very much there.

Seriously though, Connauton would be a pretty good fit. He's probably the #4 defenseman in AZ (with OEL, Hjalmarsson, and Goligoski ahead of him--the latter mostly due to his experience on this very young team), and I think he can be had reasonably. Hjalmarsson would be preferable, but I think we'd have to give up a lot to get him.

Oh, and AZ isn't moving Domi. They can't put fans in seats as is. Getting rid of one of their most popular players won't help.

Agree on all accounts there. I love the idea of adding Connauton. I think it makes a lot of sense. Was surprised to hear from his agent that they had heard nothing of the possibility.

They are not in on Kane, but I do think GMJR will do something else before 3 p.m. Probably a depth defenseman.

As soon as his immigration paperwork goes through. We have no way of predicting that. Depends on how busy they are.

As solid as he’s been (minus Florida game) if Murray is out long term, I can’t see Jarry holding down the fort. But what does GMJR do? What can he do? Slim pickings on goaltenders available.
