Big thunderstorm line running through SW Ohio, if I disappear, it's probably just my internet and I'm not dead.

As a dodgers fan I’m definitely worried about the Braves pitching

The pen is filthy. Looove Fried, too. He was a big breakout pick of mine for fantasy baseball this year
LFC Mike

If the thought of a Boom Stick hot dog makes you queasy. Take a look at one presented in all its glory.. or gory-ness
Paul Sporer
8:30
Oh I've seen it
Jim Stewart

As a Braves fan, I'm worried about Fried throwing 25 pitches in the 1st inning.
Paul Sporer
8:32
Anytime a pitcher eclipses 25, it's a concern, but we routinely see a rough 1st inning feel like it's going to lead to a shortened outing and then they settle in for 6-7 strong innings
Def good for LAD even if they don't score, though
The whiffff

Agree.  Watched Glavine do it for years.

I'd be happy to have the 1-0 lead, but as Braves, not so happy it took Fried 28 pitches.
Fried being to be able to go deep in two games is something they really need in seven games.
8:34
Either they're going to have to do a lot of short rest starts
or they'll need likely a Bryse Wilson start *and* a bullpen game
Hugh Duffy

Fried was definitely amped up for the inning. Fried rarely touches 97 unless he's overthrowing his fastball, and he did that a few times that inning.

"Max Fried" seems like a pretty great name for a concession stand at Truist Field specializing in French Fries, Funnel Cakes, and other fine fried foods.
Burch

Frieds spin rate and break on that curve is filthy. I love it. I do not love 26 pitches
Paul Sporer
8:37
1st inning always the toughest. 2nd will be key for Fried

Duvall looks like he's in pain

That’s an oblique strain. He’s not gonna be back this series.

why not Pache?
Wood
8:42
Pache time tho
Hugh Duffy
8:42
Not the ideal way for Pache to get his first postseason at bat.
Lzfreak
8:42
Well I guess we'll get to see Pache...
Logan

How much of the first inning often being toughest for SPs is just a product of necessarily facing the opposing team’s best hitters?
Paul Sporer
8:43
A major part of it
Deathstar Graterol

Since Braves beat Marlins, have they now inherited the “never lose postseason series” magic?
AvatarDan Szymborski

I'm not sure how the magic is transmitted

...are we really still calling things "sissy" in 2020?

I firmly believe that Buehlers super tight pants hinder his range of motion

We should probably go with a word these days that doesn't have a sexual orientation link.
Wimpy? Wussy? We still need ways to be mean to each other, but in egalitarian ways!
Paul Sporer
8:46
Ya it's not great. I get the context that he's trying to convey by saying that blisters are decidedly not lame or weak even though they seem insignificant. Not a great word choice, though
AvatarDan Szymborski
8:47
I don't think it's a Thom Brennaman thing though.
Though I'd avoid the word.

Christian Pache now has a career 347 wRC+, making him even better than Arozarena.

superhero pants. They anchor him

I thought we were avoiding magic transmission this season -- that's why we have all the protocols.
Paul Sporer

Ooooook... I twitter searched sissy to see if people were talking about Smoltz and immediately regretted it. Do not do that.

Nonsense, do you think MASKS WOULD HAVE STOPPED GANDALF?
