oh, hey, talking about pitching around, fun
.....nope it's about Dansby Swanson!
AvatarDan Szymborski

I'm jus tmore comfortable not knowing every contour of the pitcher's buttocks.

Zach Duke and Evan Meek belong in the hall of fame of "wait, they were an allstar?"
Ben Clemens
7:31
There's a Zach Duke card in OOTP that is startlingly effective, based off of his All Star year

Kershaw does not throw a changeup. I hate this commercial.

The curveball has backspin!!!
It's a four-seam rising curveball
AvatarDan Szymborski

If Chuck Norris's beard can be another fist, Kershaw's change can just be another curveball.

Kevin Correia was an all star too

So a cutter...?
Ben Clemens
7:32
Nah it's supposed to be a curveball, I think they just didn't have Kershaw throw it and used generic baseball footage instead

Maybe I'm just not a car guy, but does advertising tire brands actually make sense?  Does anyone go to their guy and say they want the specific brand?  I know I want round ones, but I'll just trust whoever I'm working with beyond that.
Ben Clemens
7:34
Totally agree
I have a car I like well enough
I can tell you what type of car it is
No clue what tires I have
Jeremy
7:34
I get whatever tires are on sale at the tire place the week that I need them.

But I guess Raytheon and Lockheed advertise, too.  Microtargeting the 3 right guys who work in Pentagon procurement.
Ben Clemens
7:35
Someone has explained these to me satisfactorily
Companies like that rely on huge-ticket purchases
But those purchases are stlil made by humans who watch TV
7:36
So it's a kind of goodwill/keep top of mind advertising
Unclear to me whether it's worth the money but that's the theory

MLB Central was debating the face of baseball. They said Aaron Judge, Fernando Tatis Jr., Mike Trout. Am I dumb to think Bryce Harper is? Like if you asked random people on the street to name a baseball player, would Bryce Harper not be the most common? Maybe they meant within people who follow the game more actively.
Ben Clemens
7:37
I think the fan on the street thinks he sucks now
But maybe he's still the face of baseball to them anyway

I have no recollection of a pitcher named Jeff Locke existing but he was an all star- ah those mid 2000s pirates teams

I always think that for insurance. Insurance provider is an important decision based on many factors, but whether Aaron Rodgers doing a dance isn't one of them.
AvatarDan Szymborski

I think it is

Any insurance company that spends money on THAT has to have a firm financial footing!
