Also, anything you send in advance, you will be without on the originating side for quite some time. Don't wanna be sleeping on the floor!
Cliff John
11:35
Thanks, Liam.
Valerie Adams

We're thinking of renting a furnished holiday cottage. Seems cheaper than the houses
Dave Speer
11:35
We're probably going to do something similar, Valerie. Maybe rent storage in the US for a couple years.
Liam
11:36
For those of you planning to rent in Ireland, most rentals come furnished.
Valerie Adams
11:36
Have you found a reasonable price? Most seem to be $300-400 per month
Liam
11:36
I would say it's the norm, however the furniture is not always great. To be expected in some ways, but I remember renting, and insisting on a new mattress.
Dave Speer
11:37
3-400? Where is that? Sounds low
Valerie Adams
11:37
Good point
I was looking at storage units in the coastal GA area. The largest unit was $359/month
Dave Speer
11:38
myhome.ie and daft.ie have been my research spots.
Oh, I thought you meant  a rental cottage.
11:39
No, I haven't dug into cost of storage yet.
I'm sure that's a competitive industry. Maybe deals can be found.
Valerie Adams
11:39
Oh, sorry! I was talking about both. Rental unites here. Holiday cottages are definitely more!
Dave Speer
11:39
Now we're on the same page.
Valerie Adams
11:40
And at that price to store furniture over a number of years, I think it's cheaper to buy new when we come back
Do we have time to discuss the availability of health care coverage?
Dave Speer
11:41
$8600 for two years. That'd buy you a nice sofa for sure.
Liam
11:41
Of course, Valerie.
11:42
HIA.ie is the health insurance authority. You can do some comparisons there later. Depending on your  immigration status, insurance may be required.
Valerie Adams
11:43
Are there certain requirements for using National Health Care?
Cliff John
11:43
Another question about shipping.... if we were to purchase say a BBQ grill to send over with the rest of what we ship, how long must it have been purchased to avoid vat tax on entry?
Liam
11:44
If you're considered 'ordinarily resident' you are entitled to public health care. Basically, that means you are living in Ireland, and you can prove you will continue to do so. I'll find the proper guidance on this, and post it here.
Valerie Adams
11:44
Thank you!
11:45
Somehow I have i tin my head you have to prove you'll be there at least a year...
Liam
11:45
Not sure on that one, Cliff. I have that info from when I moved a few years back. Let me track it down. There's strict requirements around cars and tools.
11:47
Revenue.ie governs that. But it can be up to the inspector when you're things arrive, and their judgement on whether something should be taxed or not.
Cliff John
11:48
Thanks for the insights.
Liam
Valerie Adams
11:49
Thank you so much!!
11:50
Silly question, Liam. If you find info on healthcare, where exactly on the website would we find it?
Liam
11:51
I will email it to you, if that's ok. I'll also post it in this chat, which will be available afterwards too.
Valerie Adams
11:51
That would be wonderful!
Liam
11:52
Valerie, Cliff, Dave - thank you all for joining today. I'll stick around for another few minutes if there's anything else. If not, enjoy the rest of your day. I plan to hold these occassionally if there's interest. I'll try to target one topic, and you can decide if you'd like to join or not.
Dave Speer
11:52
Much appreciated, Liam. Be sure to count me in.
Valerie Adams
11:52
Great! Bye all
Dave Speer
11:53
Bye Valerie.
Cliff John
11:53
All good! That import info was what I needed! Thanks all!
