If I could perhaps make a suggestion Nubyjas. Maybe if you replied to our comments in the PG comments section after you write an article that would win you some points with the readers. You never even reply to anybody's comments game after game and I think it's rude.

Nancy, is it really rude? Or you just don't like me, which is fine, I won't lose sleep. No Post-Gazette writer replies to the comments. Which comments should I reply to? The ones calling me an idiot or the ones that are worse? I'm extremely accessible via, Twitter @nwilborn19, my email nwilborn@post-gazette.com and these chats which I do twice a month. Until the editors ask me to reply to comment section you can reach me via the options I gave.

Good lord, people.  Wilborn isn't part of the Bucs FO.  Write Frank or Bob an e-mail if you need to get some anger off your chest.  To NW - Has there been any indication from your interactions with the Pirates management that they plan on being a little more aggressive in free agency, given that a new TV is coming and the stink of this season needs washed away with some hope (even a little)?

Honestly, as of now, they seem content to mostly bring back the current roster, I think they'll make some moves but I don;t expect splashes.

Even if the government does get involved, baseball doesn't allow teams to open their books; it's in the rules. I wonder how those two collide.
nubyjas wilborn
1:25
I'm curious to see how it plays out if at all.
Sandy
1:25
I wouldn't hire that guy to do anything.
nubyjas wilborn
1:25
good for him, you don't have that option.
Nancy

Sorry Nubyjas you are wrong. Paul Zeise has commented a few times to people when he has written a column. I think you are making excuses tsk tsk tsk. Not a nice way to win people over. Right now you aren't well liked so you need to try and change things up. I was a teacher for 30 years so I know.

Funny how the only other black writer is the one who has to reply to people being rude in the comment section. Hmmmmm.

They are content to bring back the current roster? Oh you mean the same roster that couldn't even win 70 games and that won 24 games in the 2nd half of the season? Boy aren't I all excited.

1:29
I didn't say it was right or wrong. I'm giving you what I believe based on my interactions.
I'll take a few more good questions if anyone has any?

This group of clowns realizing that they have a problem with their player dev is exactly the problem. These folks got us at this point after 12 yrs. They AREN’T qualified to fix the problem they caused.
nubyjas wilborn
1:30
They realize there is a problem.

Why did Jordan Lyles look so great as soon as he left here? To me that raises so many red flags with the pitching approach the Pirates use.
nubyjas wilborn
1:34
He had some injuries that hampered him a bit. But remember there was a 6 week stretch when he was the best Pirate pitcher

Have we buried the hatchet? You still a subscriber I hope?
nubyjas wilborn
1:34
yes, we even hugged it out.
Realignment
1:34
Any chance of baseball division realignment. Get tired of seeing the cubs 19 times a year. Like to see other teams more from the east and west.

The next CBA is possible.

Love your columns and your chats. Don't pay attention to the haters....What free agent catchers do you think the Pirates might take a look at?
nubyjas wilborn
1:37
Yasmani Grandal, Jason Castro would be my targets. Also, thank you so much!

What are your thoughts on the wild card game?  I think it's incredibly stupid.  My suggestion for improvement would be to either 1. expand the wild card to a best of 3, or 2., seed the teams by record and the worst teams play the wild card game.  2015 really bothered me when you had 2 of the top 3 teams in ALL OF BASEBALL play in the wild card game.  I would have put that '15 team up against anyone in a 7 game series.

I enjoyed last night's game with Brewers & Nats there was so much drama. I like the win or go home scenario. But it also has to not be fun when you're the losing squad.

I know there was more than meets the eye as to why all of a sudden Bill Brink left the beat early in the season. I wish you would fill us all in.

we're one of the few papers that has a sports enterprise reporter and it's a wonderful opportunity. He also gets more chances to be at home with his lovely wife.

Hey Nubyjas.  A lot of us look forward to your chats so ignore the knuckleheads.  Do you think the Braves can whip the Redbirds?
nubyjas wilborn
1:43
thank you, Mark. I think the Braves should win the series.

Why was Chisenhall allowed to stay home all season recovering from his injury?
nubyjas wilborn
1:43
I don't know. They allowed it. But he did the same with the Indians last season.

Also to follow up on previous Q, in 13-15 the FO had success when being selective and adding legitimate FA/Trade Pieces i.e. Martin, Liriano, Burnett,  Since that time it seems the FO has been a strictly trying to reclaim declining players vs known commodities or at least guys you can have a sense what they will bring to team.
nubyjas wilborn
1:44
They have taken a conservative approach.
Corey
1:45
You never answered my question about whether you think they should fire assistant pitching coach Justin Meccage along with Searage. I think they both need to go.
nubyjas wilborn
1:45
sorry. I think they'll both go.

Just curious. What’s the chain of command in the organization? Does Neal report to Coonelly or directly to Nutting?
nubyjas wilborn
1:45
to Connelly
Bruno
1:45
You gonna try and do an interview with Vasquez while he is locked up here in Pennsylvania? I think it would be a pretty interesting interview if he would agree to it.
nubyjas wilborn
1:46
This would be interesting. I'd love to know what he's thinking,.

Last years free agent market had several reasonably priced FA’s given the reluctance to sign guys to long term deals. Given they went “all in” with Archer and Kela was there any indication why the FO was not willing to add more given the payroll well below previous season?  This is where I think a large part of reason the fans are so distrusting of the FO.
