I think intentional
Organists are great as a rule
Topper Bottoms
12:18
110% intentional @the487
Meg Rowley
12:18
And theirs is very, very strong
Ben Clemens
12:18
I hope this is in response to Eric's dislike of '100%' yesterday
John
12:19
Ben in right with you I was just on his page. I was too young to appreciate it at the time but was it understood how bad he was at defense at the time? He couldve been a DH and been a much better player.
Ben Clemens
12:19
Nah this was before framing was quantified
We've retroactively quantified it but FanGraphs probably *loved* Doumit in 2009
Or, well, I don't think FanGraphs really worked that way in 2009
But you know what I mean
Topper Bottoms
12:20
Last night they played "99 Luftballons" when the creepy balloon floated in
Ben Clemens
12:20
That's a good one
The Braves organist is also excellent
Meg Rowley
12:20
The Matts whiffing on a play is... very upsetting
Ben Clemens
12:20
Meg I tuned into that game during the slo-mo replay
And I assumed it was of an inning-ending play
So when it went wrong I was VERY surprised
Meg Rowley
12:21
I yelled "Matts NOOOOO"

12:21
Here's to hoping the Dodgers play Shane Bieber in the World Series... would love to see what the organist would come up with there
Meg Rowley
12:21
Do you guys ever worry that you cared about weird stuff before quarantine and when we're finally able to go out again safely, that you'll be impossible at parties?
Ben Clemens
12:22
Not until now!
Matt
12:22
The "smart" baseball crowd really took a roundabout route to where we currently are on defense.  For a while, when we could quantify offensive performance but defense was still witchcraft, the darlings of this crowd were the Adam Dunns and Ryan Doumits of the world.  Things change, we learn, we evlolve.
Ben Clemens
12:22
Yeah, Ben Lindbergh's take on this is one of my favorite baseball articles
12:23
I want to write something this good one day, it stuck with me for YEARS
Joe
12:23
No, I’ve moved beyond worrying, and into acceptance about that Meg
Meg Rowley
12:24
I remember reading that and wishing I was a baseball writer, and now I podcast with that guy. So cool stuff happens sometimes, I guess.
Ben Clemens
12:24
Seeing Trout lurking on deck is really pleasant
Meg Rowley
12:24
I want to see Trout in the playoffs and hope Ohtani and Canning can pitch all the games?
Ben Clemens
12:25
Did Simmons get skinnier?
He's always been skinny, but he looks reallllly skinny now
Meg Rowley
12:25
hmmm he looks about the same to me?
Rizzo is like, super skinny now
12:26
WAIT
Ben Clemens
12:26
Yeah I might just forget what he looks like after some time off
Meg Rowley
12:26
THEY ARE PLAYING A RECORDING OF GOD BLESS AMERICA?
Ben Clemens
12:26
It's always so crazy when he gets so much force on it
Meg Rowley
12:26
WAIT
A RECORDING?
Man this is some college baseball shit
