Well, the season is basically the length of a college baseball season (60 games pre-NCAA tournament is the maximum allowable for Division I, I think).

Another college similarity this year: the first round of the postseason will reduce teams from 16 to 8 using a three-game series held exclusively at the higher-ranked team's ballpark. This is essentially the equivalent of the NCAA's Super Regional round.
