Vavra should be starting at the keystone over Fraser. Why did the sign him to an 8 million dollar contract?  Wouldn't profar been a better fit?
Darragh McDonald
5:37
Profar's not really an infielder anymore.
He only played left field last year.

Why is it that people seem to be down on mountcastle and santander both these guys can be 30 doubles and 30 hrs
Darragh McDonald
5:39
It's because that's about all they do.
They don't really take walks or steal bases or play great defense.
So, yeah, the doubles and homers are fine, but it's a pretty one-dimensional profile.

If the ownership situation were to blow up could MLB force a sale of the team? Has it ever done so?
Darragh McDonald
5:40
Well, MLB bought the Expos back in the day and then moved them to Washington.
5:41
But for the O's, all the lawsuits have been dropped. So, maybe things are stable for now? I don't know.
I'll watch the new season of Succession and then get back to you.

I think that the Orioles are doing an amazing job. Didn't sign anyone to block some of the ready prospect. If a couple more of them become regulars this year could really set them up to sign some front end pitchers or trade for them next off-season
Darragh McDonald
5:43
I don't disagree that the drafting and player development has been really impressive. The long-term picture is still really nice.

Doe Grayson Rodriguez open the season in the rotation or in AAA?
Darragh McDonald
5:43
I would guess he's in the big league rotation.

5:44
Why did the O’s get Cole Irvin? There are better starters in free agency
Darragh McDonald
5:45
It's possible they pivoted to Irvin after missing out on the free agents, apart from Gibson.
Ghost of Edward Bennett Williams
5:45
How much seasoning does Jackson Holliday really need and when is it reasonable to expect him up with the big league club?
Darragh McDonald
5:46
He's 19 years old.
It's not totally unheard of for a guy to make the majors around that age, but it's not really a race.
John Fisher
5:46
Do you think the Orioles should have spent to upgrade this offseason now that their window is open? Was this a wasted opportunity?
Darragh McDonald
5:47
I think they could have done more, sure.
5:48
One sec. Someone's at the door.
5:49
Sorry about that.
Donovan
5:49
Was it the person fighting with their cellphone at the door, come to apologize for the noise?
Darragh McDonald
5:49
Weirdly, no, but it was a construction worker apologizing about noise.

What are the chances I'm the next rookie to win MVP?
Darragh McDonald
5:51
That's a pretty rare thing, so, low.

In all of the talk about the organization being cheap during the rebuild, where is the consideration for the expense of rebuilding the front office with a functional analytics department & international presence. That couldnt have been cheap.
Darragh McDonald
5:52
Sure, but that's an expense for the 29 other teams as well, not just the O's.

Should Baltimore be bringing the LF wall in some to help attract FA hitters?
Darragh McDonald
5:53
Good idea. And good name.

I don’t believe a word that comes out of John Angelo,s mouth! Am I justified??
Darragh McDonald
5:55
I can't believe you would ask me this on Alexander Graham Bell Day.

Other than noticeably shorter games, and the occasional free balls/strikes from the pitch clock, what are the next biggest effects you expect to see from the new rule changes?
Darragh McDonald
5:56
The pickoff limits and bigger bases should lead to a slight increase in stolen base attempts.
It doesn't seem like we'll go back to, like, 1980s levels, but more than recent years.
O Fo Sho
5:56
The O's just moved the left field wall back in 2022 to help bring in pitching. No need to go back and forth with it.
Darragh McDonald
5:56
Yeah, that was the gag.

It sounds like the Orioles are going to use their young talent to trade for veterans over the next couple of years. Are there any young guys that would be considered "a no trade option"?
