Ok let’s do it!

Tell me why there’s reason for uproar bringing Haskins in for a visit.  Due diligence that makes too much sense.  Any team needing a QB now or the next year should do the same.  Agree?
Zeise
12:08
Have you been paying attention the last three or four years? Ha ha. We have become in this society the outrage culture. We are angry about everything and social media makes it worse. So now every bit of news that comes out is met with some degree of outrage!!!! I agree with you, you have to do due diligence and kick the tires on every option. I’m not a fan of Haskins but if Roethlisberger retires and Haskins comes real cheap, why not?

What are the Bucs trying to get in return for Adam Frazier. The haul can't be as promising as what they received on the Musgrove trade right? I think they must move him before the season otherwise he will take ab's away from others who are a real part of the Pirate's future.
Zeise
12:10
They are realistic and know he isn’t bringing back anything of immediate value. But they want to move his contract, create a spot for a younger guy and maybe they pick up a Class A guy with a lot of upside or something. I like what the Pirates have done so far

Do you believe the Steelers and Ben will wait until March to make a decision on whether he comes back? I think the sooner the better on an extension or retirement so the Steelers can make decisions on other players.
Zeise
12:11
I think it will happen before then, I do. The Steelers need to get their offensive staff in place and then they will deal with Pouncey and Roethlisberger and next year

Paul.  The last time I attended a Pirate game was the playoff.  Can you think of any reason why I should consider attending ever again? New management can talk about rebuilding again, but the economics seem to be to underlying issue for this profitable business. Why don’t the big advertisers, PNC and others, force Nutting to invest in the ‘prospects’ when they become stars? Fans still seem to want to go to the park for the ‘good’ food and fireworks.
Zeise
12:13
I can’t tell you how to spend your money but I can say that if you love baseball, that’s a good enough reason to go to some games. If you love baseball then you know the Pirates are rebuilding and trying to put together a team down the road.

Steelers want to hire a position coach to ensure he aligns with TBD OC. Does this seem backwards to you?
Zeise
12:16
It doesn’t just seem backwards, it absolutely is backwards!
Mercury
12:16
Paul, will the Pirates still be in Pittsburgh ten years from now?
Zeise
12:16
Yes I do think that. They will continue to be a Major League team, too

Many thanks for your candor. The success of a new OC will depend in part on the OL. MT picking OL b4 choosing OC seems like another of MT's Sunday afternoon brain twisters. Ex snoshovelerin AZ

As I said, it makes no sense to me but then again who am I. I would hire an offensive coordinator who knows what he wants in his line coach

Do you think Jarry has choked a bit in his first couple of games as the number 1 goalie or chalk it up to bad defense in front of him?. If you still have confidence in him, when do you start him next? DeSmith is 2-0 and playing above average right now.
Zeise
12:18
He was put in some bad spots by his defense. He has to play better and will but I don’t think it was all his fault
Mercury
12:19
Are the Steelers being unusually tight lipped about their coaching interviews?
Zeise
12:21
No not really. I just think it is easier to hide them because of the pandemic. Normally there are reporters hanging around the Steelers offices all day every day. It is just there aren't as many eyes on the building so to speakg
Mercury
12:22
It’s been reported the Steelers are talking to Haskins. What do you think of that?
Zeise
12:23
As I said I don’t have a problem with kicking the tires on a guy like that. What’s the harm in it? And especially if Roethlisberger is more going to come back. It makes sense to me
Sunner in Orlando
12:23
Who do you cut or restructure in this group? Pouncey, Decastro.Nelson, Haden, Big Al, Juju, Conner, Boswell and Ebron.
Zeise
12:24
This is probably not going to be popular but the only guy on that list that I would keep around is Nelson, the rest I move on from and save the money that I would be able to save by cutting them all

12:24
Paul, if the Steelers cut Ben is his 2021 season salary and bonus of apx 20 mil wiped out or is it guaranteed? Thanks
Zeise
12:25
It is not guaranteed. The portion of it that is signing bonus is but I’m not sure what that number is. It would save the Steelers $19 million in salary cap room

Hi, Paul!  Have you ever noticed that the NFL end zone pylons are, technically, placed out of bounds?  It has me wondering if TDs barely crossing their planes are truly legit.
Zeise
12:26
I have not noticed but I will pay closer attention now

Sid’s looking good this year. Think he has it in him for another point per game season even with the shortened season? He’s been getting some beautiful, gritty goals - the kind only he can get
Zeise
12:27
Yes I would argue they would be 0-4 without him, he has been that good. Can he keep it up? I don’t know the fact it is a shorter season probably helps in that regard

Dwayne Haskins is scheduled to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers today. Any idea why Mike Tomlin is wasting time on this kid?
Zeise
12:28
Again, doing due diligence is never a bad thing

Hello Paul.  I have read that the Steelers want to hire an offensive line coach before hiring their offensive coordinator.  I would think the coordinator would be hired first so he could have some input as to who the line coach should be and if he can work with that coach.  Is this normal procedure for the Steelers and other NFL teams?  Thank you Paul.
Zeise
12:29
It is very puzzling to me, just kind of strange why they would do it this way
Donna
12:31
Hi Paul.  I would like your opinion of Hank Fraley who is a candidate for the offensive line coaching position.
Zeise
12:32
Looking at his resume? He looks good to me. I mean, I am not going to pretend to be an expert on teaching offensive line technique to NFL guys. It seems like he has the right pedigree to be successful so why not!

I can't understand with the lack of hype for Pitt before this season why Pitt hasn't been on national television as much but it seems like there's less ACC games on national TV this year than our Big East days (ESPN, CBS, etc).  I know the conference is trying to leverage the ACC Network platform but isn't it hurting the ACC teams exposure and recruiting since few people get to see the teams play?
Zeise
12:36
The college basketball season is so scattered and disconnected I have no idea how to make sense out of any of it. It is just a goofy year

Hey Paul...with the trades of Bell and Musgrove and the youth of the Pirates in general, who do you see as having the temperament/personality to be a team leader?
Zeise
12:38
I mean, Bryan Reynolds? Colin Moran? Jacob Stallings? They do have a few veteran guys but you just have to wait and see how the clubhouse develops.

Paul, What negatives of Mike Tomlin does Danny Smith possess that keeps him employed all these years?  Our special teams are routinely awful to mediocre.  Surely we could do better?
