As I’ve said many times - no. You did not

I love Stony Brook, what a great campus

Are there any free agent Tackles/Centers that would be worth signing?  Seems like they need at least one very strong player on the O-line and D-line via FA, in addition to prioritizing those positions in the draft.
Zeise
12:41
They are going to draft offensive line. They should sign a tackle though that’s for sure

Obviously Tomlin runs the defense. Do you think the Steelers bring in an outsider to be DC? Do you think they bring in an outsider to be OC?
Zeise
12:42
I think Terryl Austin will be the guy and that’s why he will be the guy. If you are an established QB are you you really going to come here to have someone else call plays
Gene
12:42
Who do you think is the Steeler QB next season?
Zeise
12:42
Honestly Mason Rudolph
Lou

With baseball in the black hole of lockout, what you think of this idea: Universal DH in both leagues, however you lose the DH spot and pitchers have to bat after first pitching change.  Might help keep starters in game longer, preserve fun stuff like double switches, and address DH in NL (which will happen eventually).
Zeise
12:44
I think baseball is ruined forever. The whole bullpenning nonsense has made it so I don’t even like watching any more. I loved the game when guys wanted the ball for 7-8 innings a night

Paul, Does the hire of Cignetti help the defense as much as the offense?  Coach Cignetti shows that he gets the ball to his playmakers but will run the ball and control the Time of Possession.  Will we see the Panthers score 30+ while holding opposing teams under 20 a lot next year?
Zeise
12:45
It does because the run game will be much, much better and much more emphasized. I can see, with that offensive line and those backs, the offense just grinding people every week
RJT
12:46
Why is everyone so quick to ousts Tomlin from calling the defense. They’re pretty good when healthy aren’t they?
Zeise
12:47
They have given up 171 points in their last four playoff games. I’m not sure how you spin that any way other than the defensive play calling and scheming has sucked when it counts
Kevin
12:47
Hi Paul,  Do you think the interviews for a new DC  are just to follow the Rooney rule requirements ?  If so how do you think Art Rooney II feels about that ?
Zeise
12:47
I’m sure they are and that’s OK. The point of the rule is to get coaches of color a chance to interview, get some exposure and maybe get a job
Tod from sewickly
12:48
What ever happened to pat narduzzi's contract extension that was imminent last month?
Zeise
12:49
Great question but it feels like there is going to be one happening and probably once signing day comes and goes and whatnot
Jim
12:49
Why does it seem like a no brainer for almost everyone outside the Steelers organization to get rid of Canada but MT thinks he's good enough to stay? Mind boggling!!
Zeise
12:49
Because Tomlin hired him. To fire him after a year would be admitting a mistake
Gil Brandt
12:49
Paul, I loved Dan Rooney, but there is a bit of revisionist history going on in the former smoky city. The Steelers were not very relevant from 1980 to 1995, and that's about 15 years, give or take. Yinzers need to realize that other GMs and coaches around the league are even more incompetent than those folks on the North Side. Take care.
Zeise
12:52
in those 15 seasons they got to the playoffs 7 times and played in two conference title games. They only had four losing records. They weren’t super Steelers. They weren’t the Jets or Lions, either
Len from Orlando
12:53
I asked about Harbaugh and Carroll because since the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2012, I think Harbaugh is 2-4 in the playoffs, missed the playoffs 5 times, finished last in the division this year, and has a worse W/L and coaches challenge record than Tomlin. Likewise, Carroll since their SB win has a losing record in the playoffs (5-6) and a worse W/L and coaches challenge record than Tomlin.  Why don't we hear more about the Ravens and Seahawks needing to make head coach changes?
Zeise
12:53
Because we live in Pittsburgh and cover the Steelers. Harbaugh hasn’t had a Hall of Fame quarterback, ever
MT
12:54
Paul, OK I admit it, I could never get a decent night's sleep if I let a lowly subordinate make a key defensive call and it fails miserably. I've grown increasingly comfortable living with my bad calls. Is that so wrong?
Zeise
12:54
You are the boss and you apparently are Teflon Tomlin so you do you
The REAL ev
12:54
Paul, didn't Cowher part ways with an OC after one year? Ray Sherman?  I mean there is precedent...
Zeise
12:55
I think you are right. I just don’t see Tomlin doing that
Scott
12:55
Paul, You are by far my favorite sports writer. You tell it like it is (in sports and real life). You are not afraid to offend or tick anybody off. Please don't change.
Zeise

Thanks Scott, I don’t know any other way to do it

Any chance the Steelers can coax Brees out of retirement now that his buddy Sean Payton is out of the game?
Zeise
12:55
Good lord, his arm is shot

12:56
Paul, Tomlin and leadership must realize that to win in the league they have to match the fire power of the rest of the AFC qbs, right? Steady qb play, defense and a running game works in ‘92 but not ‘22, agreed?
Zeise
12:56
Tell that to the 49ers, they didn’t get that memo
Art not Smart
12:56
Art Rooney II doesn't have a quarter of the brains his Dad had. This franchise is headed to the "Same Old Steelers" days for eternity isn't it ?
Zeise
12:57
Dan is obviously an incredible football exec. Stepping into his shoes is tough as he was so good you will almost assuredly not be able to duplicate it
Jim
12:57
We have a pretty good offensive nucleus with skill players, add a few Oline guys, then draft heavy on defense, think that would get us close?
Zeise
12:58
The offensive line needs help. The receiving corps needs help. If they can bolster those two things they have a chance
Lou
12:58
Why do the Steelers need to hire someone with the title "Defensive Coordinator"?  Bill Belichick has left the position vacant numerous seasons while he was calling the shots and had defensive assistants that were quasi/defaco DC's (Matt Patricia, Flores, his son Steve...).  Why can't the NFL think outside the box?!
