I believe tomlin is just an average coach. Not very good at judging talent and has no ability to make adjustments during the games.he allows players to disrupt the team such as brown holding up team buses and not staying in the dorm during training camp. I also believe he will not hire top assistants because they might step on his toes.so many season with out losing record so what.a legend in his own mind. Time to go adios amigo

Thanks for your answer about DJ. I never understood why they don't play him there more. After JuJu got hurt I expected to see Claypool and JW on the outside and DJ in the slot with Ray Ray making a rare appearance in 4 wide. Or motion Najee to the opposite slot of DJ.

Paul, if Teryl Austin would not have been hired in 2019, and was being considered this year as the new DC (as an outside hire), I doubt there would be the same backlash as we are seeing now.  Aren't the Steelers better off being proactive in succession planning (in advance of Butler retirement) and having a strong DC candidate who now knows organization and the talent.  While I understand some of the criticism that Tomlin is getting for internal hires, not sure it's warranted here (as Austin was a credible external hire in '19, being groomed for bigger + better things).   Thoughts?

I don’t think there is backlash. Austin is a good coach. The backlash is that he is being hired to run Tomlin’s defense
