Paul, if you were a talented, ascending young tour pro (hope for the multiverse), my guess is that you would be one of the few who would jump at the guaranteed (if soiled) dinero, rather than chasing majors and that whole golf history thing. Am I wrong?
Zeise
1:03
If one of these foreign tours offered me 10 years at $100 million and I was in my 20s? Hell yeah I would take the money. I would be set for life and still get back to the PGA tour in my early, mid 30s.

There were only a handful of plays during the season that I recall any of our WRs getting meaningful separation on a route.  I know a poor OL and QB with limits played a huge role in that but how would you evaluate the WRs talent into next season?  Versus preseason expects, I thought the WRs were biggest disappointment of the season.
Zeise
1:04
They were absolutely disappointing. Very disappointing. All season long. They need help at that position

Paul, putting aside your embarrassing lack of hockey acumen, even a jaded scribe like yourself can see that the aging Big 3 have shown enough life to take another few Cup runs fully intact, yes?
Zeise

I would say that you make a run this year. In the offseason you offer a deal to Letang and Malkin. If one wants more money than you offer, you have to move on

Hey Paul…wondering what your thoughts are about last week’s WM golf tournament if you got to see it and if you ever played there.  Thanks,
Zeise

I never played there and actually really enjoyed the layout of the course. It is unique. That stadium at 16 is incredible. The golf was fun, too

Is there anything Dambrot can do at Duquesne to turn this around?   Is he recruiting any more local players?   How can a team be that bad?  Cant shoot, dont pass, cant play defense.   Should they consider moving down in conference?   UGH!!!
Zeise
1:07
I think he needs to recruit better but he also needs to retain more of the guys he brought in

Paul, craziest thing, your shameless plug of our facilities seems to have caused a noticeable and historic reduction in our early spring sign ups. Can you please make clear to your chatters that our rangers have increased authority this year to deal with raucous and inebriated "golfers", and I use that word only in the broadest definition of the term. Thank you.
Zeise

Actually I was talking to Vince the other day. They are pretty much full for leagues and their outing booking is doing well
As for inebriated golfers, what fun is it if there aren’t a few of those out there!

Hi Paul,  I do not understand why so many people want the Steelers to draft or sign a QB who they think will be a franchise QB.  First there is not a franchise QB in the draft.  Also none of the free agent QB will be one either.  The Steelers need to upgrade their OL and DL first.  Also they need to address the ILB position for we do not a Pro Bowler in the group we have.  Most of them would not be a starter on  many other teams in this league.

Hello Paul.  If you don’t mind, I would like to take this opportunity to wish a speedy recovery to Stan Savran from his illness.  I have enjoyed listening to him and hope he can continue his career for many years to come.  Thank you Paul.
Zeise
1:15
Absolutely. Stan is a gem. He is the gold standard for what a professional broadcaster should be. He is definitely on the Mr Rushmore in this town. And he is a great dude, really truly a gracious and dignified man. I owe him a lot in terms of my crossover into broadcasting

Who decides what guests you have on your show?

It is the Paul Zeise show, soooo

Paul, I've studied this matter some, and it appears that you possess the 7th or 8th (depending on PTO schedules) most power within the PG sports department.  And last year, you were 6th if I recall.  So we appear to be going in polar opposite directions, no?
Zeise
1:16
I have no idea what that means but it does sound funny

The solution to the MLB problem is easy.  Break the league into two separate leagues.  In the first, you have those teams from the big markets who want to win every year by outspending everyone else.  We'll call them the MLB Network League.   The second would be a league of smaller markets or conservative markets who would have a minimum and maximum spending salary cap.  They can be called PBL or Professional Baseball League.  If you really wanted giggles, have the winners of both leagues play each other at the end of their respective World Series just for bragging rights.  I think you get my point.  Which league would you be interested in?
Zeise
1:17
Wouldn’t work: why would the larger markets and richer teams want that?

Hi Paul.  Do you think the Steelers might be interested in signing linebacker Dante Fowler?  Thanks.
Zeise

We have heard his name a lot recently for sure

Based on how lousy the 7 v 3 seeded games were in the NFL playoffs - especially when compared to all the other games , which were phenomenal - will the NFL ever admit that adding a third wild card team is nothing more than an egregious money grab? I also agree with your remark that the Sunday when the AFC and NFC champion are decided is the best sports day in America!
Zeise
1:19
I don’t like the 7th wild card. It always feels like 6 is the right number and the difference between 7th and say 11th is negligible

Paul, it looks like your dream of spending a decadent week in Augusta watching the old man hit 248-yard bombs is over, based on that presser yesterday. So who is your favorite pro hacker until I come along? And be honest, even if it's a weirdo like Bryson or an arrogant type like Brooksie.  Collin is way too cerebral for you, is my guess.
Zeise
1:21
I love Colin Morikowa. I love Jon Rahm. I love Rory still. I enjoy watching Brooke Koepka too. Pretty much all these guys on your right now are easy to root for. JT is a little too sourpuss for me and Bryson is a clown show but I like most of the rest of them

Hi Paul. Any updates or rumors regarding the Steelers’ GM position?  Thank you.
Zeise
1:21
It has been weird that it has been so quiet
1:22
I see no reason to believe it won’t be Hunt and Khan

What did the Ohio State coaching staff see in Haskins that they would start him over Joe Burrow? And then let him transfer to LSU?
Zeise
1:22
He was much better at the time, it was a no brainer. Burrow was a late bloomer

Paul, I'm secure enough in my legacy not to get hell bent on going out with a bang to make up for that DB move upward, correct? Or did the boss (AR Two and not MT for these chat purposes) tell me to go get a QB, come hell or high water? (I can't believe I pulled out that phrase).
Zeise

Based on your history let’s hope you draft o linemen and receivers in your last go around!

Which will be a greater disaster ? Me or the Pirates season ?

The Pirates won’t be a disaster. They will just lose a lot of games
