Hello all let’s get started
Tommy Boy
12:04
I am with you on the Steelers not getting a big time free agent QB.   Waste of money and picks on this team right now.   And man, i am glad it wont be Aaron Rodgers, he is a weirdo, and old.   What are your pals at the radio station gonna say when Rudolph takes the Steelers to a 12-5 record next year?
Zeise
12:05
if that happens I would think there would be an epic meltdown not just among my radio colleagues but also many fans who have determined they hate Mason Rudolph
Bobby Lane
12:06
If I remember correctly, when the Steelers drafted Mason Rudolph the evaluation was that he could be a solid starting NFL quarterback. If I'm remembering incorrectly this question is useless, but we're certainly not hearing that evaluation now. But he's hardly played. So what's happened to make his stock drop as much as it has. Can you tell from practices how well you can expect a quarterback to be if he plays?
Zeise
12:06
I think he has not proven when he had played that he is capable of really consistently moving the offense
Prince Bob
12:07
How do you think MLB's announcement that if there's no deal by Monday the season won't start on time affects negotiations? Does the threat of no full pay for a shorter season make the union more or less likely to come to terms?
Zeise
12:07
The more rhetoric that we hear the more bad feelings from both sides will continue to build up. This is a total mess

The Bengals finished 10-7, a half game ahead of the Steelers. Do you expect them to be like the Browns of 2020, who made a big splash and then fell back in 2021? I ask because they should play a tougher first-place schedule, their O-line is suspect and their D is good but not great. Thanks!
Zeise
12:08
No as long as Joe Burrow stays healthy
No as long as Joe Burrow stays healthy they will be the team to beat. They have a good defense and they will look to rebuild the offensive line
Jay Daven
12:08
Paul, is this the most important draft for the Steelers because they missed on players in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019, or because they need much help in many positions?
Zeise
12:09
It is important because they need to shore up some positions and they need to get some players that they can continue to help the rebuilding process

If Josh Dobbs is on the roster next year, why not have him as the #2 on game days and have a specific set of plays for him like Taysom Hill or Mariota? If he’s not on the roster, is he on the coaching staff?
Zeise
12:10
Because that is a gimmick mostly  and if your starter gets hurt early in the game you are stuck with Dobbs

Do you root for an NBA team? Who wins the Eastern Conference?
Zeise
12:11
The 76ers are my team. I think Milwaukee may be the team to beat in the East again
John
12:11
I agree with you that Jeff Capel should get another season at Pitt and would be surprised if this does not occur. However if prominent donors offered to buyout his contract, would Pitt make a change? Big if but just curious. Thanks!
Zeise
12:12
Not likely. Heather Lyke hired Capel and wants to give him every opportunity to prove her right
Mike
12:12
Paul, Mazeroski is in the hof because of his glovework. Why shouldn't Hines Ward be in the hof because of his blocking, in many people's opinion, the greatest blocking WR of all time.
Zeise
12:13
Different sport and different expectations for positions

Why the talk about the Steelers sending draft picks to acquire Jimmy G? He’s been often injured to the point that he missed most of the season in 2018 and 2020; is overpaid at $27M; and fails badly when pressured. Shouldn’t the 49ers instead be offering a draft pick for the Steelers to take his salary off their hands? What am I missing here?
Zeise
12:14
The Steelers trading for Jimmy G would be one of the dumbest moves in team history. They already have Jimmy G on their roster in Mason Rudolph

Have the Bucs last season and Rams this season changed the NFL landscape with winning a SB thru unconventional means? AKA trading picks and collecting stars. And do the Steelers have to change their template?
Zeise
12:15
I think so but what was the most important move both teams made? Yes they added pieces and acquired stars but both teams also went out and got a star quarterback

I'm a Buckeye and typically love when our rival gets egg on their face but was happy that Howard wasn't fired.  That said, I was shocked to see much of the media casting blame on Wiscy coach for the altercation.  Did I miss something, seemed Howard slapped another coach over a late game time out.  I come from Woody Hayes country where if you hit another person, you're at fault.  End of story.
Zeise
12:17
The only people trying to blame Greg Gard were the typical woke national hot fake guys. If Gard was a black coach or better yet Howard was a white coach, none of those guys would try and shift the blame away from Howard. It is so transparent
Where’s My Clark Bar?
12:18
How hard will it be for Capel to put together a really good team next year via the transfer portal. This may be his last lifeline and I am not too optimistic.
Zeise
12:20
His first job in recruiting will be to keep all of his players in the mix. If he does he really only needs to find a point guard and a shooter/scorer. You add those two things - and remember he will have Nike Sibande as well - to this group and I think you are in a pretty good place in terms of being competitive and making a run at 20 wins
Mike
12:20
Paul, I'm 65 years old. I've thoroughly enjoyed being a Pittsburgh fan since I was 12 years old. How many more Pittsburgh championships will I see in an 85 year old life?
Zeise
12:21
I think you will see two Steelers and two Pens titles in the next 20 years. Beyond that I’m not sure
Bernard
12:21
Odds that Tuitt is playing for the Steelers and making a meaningful impact on the field next season?  A healthy, motivated Tuitt would go a long way to curing what ails the run defense.
Zeise
12:23
I don’t know, it is tough to sit out a whole season basically and who knows what his mindset is going to be. I would move on from him but understand why they would want him to stay around for another year
Tennis anyone?
12:24
I'm betting you don't know this or really care but I've wondered about this for years without really caring either. Is there a time in the development of European tennis players when they're taught English? It seems like they all speak it pretty well.
Zeise
12:24
I have no idea other than many countries teach English as a second language. I don’t think it is just tennis players.
Bernard
12:25
I'm still confused about who Phil M offended and why anyone cares?  The PGA?  The Saudis?  KPMG is a title sponsor and does sig biz wit the Saudis and royal family so I get that part but why are fans offended?
Zeise
12:27
It is absurd. If the PGA is mad because he said “hey we can use this other league as leverage” so be it. Beyond that this is a silly contrived controversy. And it is especially rich that the golf channel - NBC golf - has spent hours ripping him for being so aloof about Saudi’s human rights violations when NBC just made millions and spent more to promote the Olympics, which took place in a country with some of the most egregious human rights violations on the planet. It is all nonsense
Bernard
12:28
If Garrett Wilson drops to the Steelers somehow (Browns probably take him #13), the Steelers need to take the kid.  He is Deebo like, one of the best athletes and route runners I've ever seen at tOSU.  Can return punts as well.  Steelers WR is woeful, maybe as bad as OL.
Zeise
12:31
I agree. Receiver and offensive line are the two biggest needs beyond quarterback position for the Steelers
