Maybe Patrick Jones. Most are 2nd or later

Paul is Juju getting a reality check? Maybe the fact that the rest of the league hates his antics as much as most of us do is going to affect his pocketbook?
Zeise
1:15
That’s not it - again it is his position and nothing more. He isn’t elite and a real difference maker so he isn’t a priority

Adam Frazier is killing it in Spring Training, he serves no purpose for our rebuilding other than blocking prospects who need valuable MLB experience to be ready for 2023. Can you tell me what is the thinking or the hold up with moving him?
Zeise
1:17
They tried to move him and they would love to move him but they haven’t gotten a real offer for him. He is a Punch and Judy hitter with a very average glove - what do you think his market value is?

Looks like BJ Finney is all the help the Steelers are going to give Big Ben this year.

Zach Banner is back and they will draft at least one of not two linemen

Afternoon, Paul. Can you please elaborate a bit on how the transfer portal works, in greater detail ? The student/athlete can only transfer one ( 1 ) time or multiple times ? Also, would seem to me that entering the portal " in season " could be very harmful to a team, similar to Pitt hoops. Does the NCAA re-visit this topic and tweak a bit ? Thanks.
Zeise

Simple - players can transfer once without having to sit out. They can transfer without having to sit out if they are graduates. It they are on their second transfer or beyond they must sit out for a year unless they get a waiver

We know the Pirates are going to be bad, but at least there seems to be some promising young talent to watch. Good enough reason to have a brew in the cheap seats at PNC this season to check on their progress?
Zeise
1:25
If you care about the Pirates you should go and root for them and they are trying to rebuild. It is a process but they are getting there

Seeing the Patriots go from cap strapped to big spenders and good draft position in one year makes me ask, why are the Steelers up against the cap and unable to sign any top FAs every year?
Zeise
1:26
Because the Patriots were smart enough to say “we are no longer good enough to win a Super Bowl so let’s move on from our $25-$30 million quarterback and reboot. And that’s where they are. The Steelers should take notes

Hypothetical...the Steelers are 3-3 at the trade deadline.  Balt and KC are 6-0.  Clev, Buffalo, and Tenn are 5-1.  Any chance that the team sees the writing on the wall and looks to get something for vets like DeCastro and Haden who are on the last year of their contracts and could be valuable pieces on a contending team?
Zeise
1:27
No because they believe they are always in it and so they will stay the course

Would you attempt to re-sign Villanueva?
Zeise
1:27
No I think his best days are behind him

Paul - Do the Steelers sign someone like Jesse James, or do you think they will address TE in the draft, or do both?
Zeise
1:28
I really do think it will be one cheap veteran option and then one in the draft

1:28
Paul - Percentage chance the Steelers re-sign AV?
Zeise
1:29
Maybe like 35 percent at this point which is far more than I would have said a few weeks ago

If Malkin is out long term, the Pens aren't winning a Cup anyway so might as well save the trade capital, right?
Zeise
1:31
Yes at that point there is no reason to go crazy with trades but if you can find a deal that makes sense that at least gives you a chance to remain competitive

Being a Steelers fan during the first week of free agency is just like being a Big 10 fan on New Years Day - almost always a disappointing experience
Zeise
1:32
That’s pretty funny. And fairly accurate, too

I am late to the chat,,..  has Amanda chimed in?

No and that’s why it has been such a wonderful chat

Hi Paul   Any word on the legal status on Pitt basketball center John Hughley   Also your opinion if Justin Champagne returns to Pitt
Zeise
1:33
I will be surprised if Champagnie is back but I don’t think it is anywhere near a done deal that he is leaving.

Paul, reference to Pete Rose's infractions raises a follow up question: shouldn't Bonds, McGwire and Clemmons (and others) be given consideration since steroids weren't illegal in baseball in their era?
Zeise
1:34
I’ve made it very clear in the past - Rose and all the steroid guys should be in the Hall of Fame. It is a farce that these writers hide behind some nonsensical morals clause to keep them out
1:35
OK well I have to run! Thanks so much for all the questions! Let’s do it again next week
