Should the Pirates be worried about Keller? He has not taken that next step and his latest spring stats were pretty awful. What's going on with him?
Zeise
12:35
Based on what we have seen from him this spring? Yes. But again, let’s wait to see how this season goes. If he is struggling still in August, then it may become a valid concern about what he will become in the future

I'm not a fan of drafting a running back in the first round. Are Etienne, Harris and Williams that much better than Trey Sermon, who should be available in the third round? I think people are dismissing Sermon too easily.
Zeise
12:36
I agree with this sentiment but if there is a clear drop off from the top of the pack to the next tier, the Steelers need to get a top tier guy

Paul I hear that mlb is thinking about moving the all star game out of Atlanta because of some legistion passed about voting laws politics has no business in sports. Your view
Zeise
12:46
I am black, I had no idea I was not capable of obtaining an ID. It is an awful idea to make sure the people who are filing ballots are actually who they say they are. 🤦🏾‍♂️ The funny thing is I just saw a poll of black folks in Georgia and, well more than 70 percent support the new laws. It is silly to me that this is even a discussion

What happened when he sobered up?

Who said he did???

Beyond WRs, TJ Watt and possibly a few others, the Steelers drafting of the past ten years has been generally abysmal, especially in the secondary. If I were in charge, I would have examined who is REALLY to blame for this and sent them packing long ago. I understand that Colbert and Tomlin typically “share” the draft decision responsibilities but do you think Rooney has an understanding of which of the two is MORE to blame on the bad decisions? Do you think he privately knows who had the influence on certain picks? Does he even care?
Zeise
12:49
I think he looks at them as a team and they seem to work together well. They both seem to value the same kind of secondary player and that might be the problem!

Am I wrong to feel that the Steelers are about to wander in the QB desert the way they did between Bradshaw & Roethlisberger?  It was a long wait for that one for the thumb.
Zeise
12:53
No. They played well many years in between Bradshaw and Roethlisberger. They got to five AFC title games if my math is correct and a Super Bowl. The idea of this “dark ages” coming for the Steelers is silly

Also really liked the sweet 16 games on Sat and Sun and elite games on Mon and Tues. Maybe something to keep in future. Sounded like better ratings.
Zeise
12:53
Yeah I enjoyed that. I enjoyed having more games Sat and Sun so we could watch them all as opposed to having to overlap them on Fri and Sat. I like the “entire tourney at one spot” idea too

Back to the Pitt question from the previous person. Paul how can any Pitt fan feel confident that Jeff Capel is the right man for the job. We are going into year 4 and tons of kids have left his program, including Coulibaly who was supposed to be a starter next season. Turmoil left and right, his teams constantly choking late in the season and us having no commitments for next season shows us fans Pitt is still a dumpster fire and Capel has been a huge disappointment. What do you think?
Zeise
12:55
Again I think we have to wait to see what this recruiting class brings. What will it look like? How will it come together? If he recruits well, this can be a better year than we think. But it starts with recruiting and until I see what his class looks like I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now

How does a contract with voidable years differ from a standard non guaranteed contract? I struggle to understand this concept.  Most NFL contracts, particularly the ones the Steelers hand out, are not guaranteed beyond the signing bonus and first year salary. In essence,  aren't they all "voidable" ?
Zeise
12:56
I don’t even pretend to understand all that stuff. I guess the voidable years mean you can get out with a lot smaller cap hit or something. I am not sure

17 week season NFL.  Super bowl later in Feb. Feb is terrible month so more NFL in Feb is a good thing in my book.
Zeise
12:56
I agree to a point - I just think those week 17 games can be hard to watch and now we are adding a week 18.

Dale Lolley said on Steelers.com that Zaven Collins can play off the ball and on the edge. If the Steelers drafted him would they use him at two positions? It be interesting to have him occasionally move to edge in sub packages and essentially have one player fill two current needs.
Zeise
12:58
He is 6-4, 260 so he is definitely intriguing but my guess is he will likely be an edge rusher if they were to draft him
Amanda

Shame on you. Shame shame shame shame shame

If they take a player in the first other than an RB does that mean they most certainly need to move up in the second round to get one of the top three? Now that they’ve filled some of their holes in free agency, and all the comp picks they should have in 2022, maybe they can afford to do that.
Zeise
12:59
Maybe they slide back a few spots out of the first round to get Javonye Williams and add a few picks as well

12:59
Why would anyone spend $ to see the Pirates? Just go to Altoona or wherever and pay to see next years team.
Zeise
1:01
Unfortunately I don’t know how many future Pirates are actually in Altoona right now. Their best prospects are in Greensboro and Bradenton right now

Paul, always appreciate and enjoy your insight.  Is it just me, or are you also frustrated by the NHL injury reporting system?   I always wonder how Vegas let's them get away with all the secrecy, when compared to how the NFL operates.   Lower versus Upper body injury is so descriptive!
Zeise
1:03
I thought it would change with gambling exploding and these leagues all signing up to partner with the gambling apps.  It hasn’t happened yet, though, and I don’t know that it will because it is one of those “hockey culture” things to not report injuries.

You disappoint me Paul. You sound more and more like a right wing shill that is spewing garbage on Fox News. What the hell happened to you?
Zeise
1:06
If using my brain and thinking through things logically and calling them as I see them and not falling for the nonsensical shrieking and virtue signaling about every damn thing makes me a right winger in your mind, guilty as charged. I’m disappointed that you are so small minded that you can’t possibly comprehend that just because I don’t agree with your world view it makes me 1) wrong and 2) automatically on the other “side” That’s not how thinking people see the world. I was asked a simple question about these silly boycotts and gave my opinion. I’m sorry you don’t agree

Pirates MVP 2021? The Parrot?
Zeise
1:07
It is probably too easy so I’ll be wrong but - Ke’Bryan Hayes

First thru 4th round, which positions would you prefer the Steelers to pick
Zeise
1:08
I hope they get a RB, T, TE and LB. and if there is a center to be had, I wouldn’t hate that, either

Is this the night the Pens beat the Bruins in Boston??
Zeise
1:08
No, I predict the Bruins will find a way to win again tonight
Jeff
1:09
Pens look good.  Especially those filling in.  Zucker seems like he could be good trade bait.  Your thoughts?
Zeise
1:12
I doubt they would go that way - I think they would more likely trade a defenseman than a winger
