paul. When you go to a Pirate game as a fantod you purchase a ticket?Do you eat the ballpark food?I used to go to 8-10 games a year and always enjoyed a Hot Dog and a beer.My grandmother used to tell me the reason I liked the ballpark dogs better was because I had to pay for them.I would like to recover those feelings again but I can't.I still view Nutting as a snake oil salesman.I'm 71 and I don't believe I will live long enough to see a World Series game in Pittsburgh again.

I do and i enjoy the ballpark and food very much

11:02
Will the Pirates reach .500 tonight vs. Nationals?
Zeise
11:03
Will the game even happen? It is raining. I would say the Nationals are like the Cubs - not very good and in a stage of rebuild
11:05
The Nationals should be better than the Cubs I would think

Paul, what free agent qbs are available that the Steelers might pick up?  Off the top of my head, Chad Henne, Andy Dalton come to mind.
Zeise
11:05
Yeah the pickings are very slim at this point. Hey maybe they could trade for Baker….. never mind
Chief Powhatan
11:05
Would you go with Trubisky/Rudolph under center in '22 should the Steelers draft an OL or do you prefer drafting a quarterback in the 1st round?
Zeise
11:06
Depends on which QB is available and regardless of who they pick I would go for the veteran
Dave
11:06
Paul, there’s an article in the PG (including today) every time a QB visits the Steelers as one of the 30 allowed visits.  However, there’s nothing reported about the other position players who have visited.  Please identify who these other player are.  Thank you.
Zeise
11:07
That’s a question for Gerry Dulac or Ray Fitipaldo
Chief Powhatan
11:07
Could you see next season's Penguins with no Letang or Malkin?
Zeise
11:08
One of the two will definitely back. I think both will be but I can definitely see a scenario where one of them is gone
ev
11:08
Paul, XFL or USFL?  note: USFL should be BFL for Birmingham...
Zeise
11:09
I have zero interest in either and I refuse to acknowledge the Maulers until they actually get here to play in Pittsburgh

what is 'arm talent'? is that just something people say to try to sound smart when they mean that someone is good at throwing a ball? I'm a lifelong sports fan, but never had much athletic ability. Music has always been what I'm good at. I'm pretty good at playing piano and guitar. Does that mean I have 'finger talent'?
Zeise
11:10
Ha ha ha ha - it is absolutely a meaningless phrase that these gurus use during draft time. It is all nonsense

Paul,            Is it time to blow up the Flightless Birds of PPG.  They aren’t quite the Pirates, yet, but they are one and done just as much as the Steelers.  Enlighten me.
Zeise
11:11
No they try and work hard to put a competent team
out there every year. They are in a bit of transition
Chief Powhatan
11:11
What's your thoughts on Dave Roberts taking Clayton Kershaw out after 7 innings (13 K's, 80 pitches) with a perfect game on the line?
Zeise
11:12
The right thing to do. It is early in the season and he is short on having his arm built up. There is no reason to push it
Chief Powhatan
11:12
Are you a streamer or subscriber to regular cable?
Zeise

Do you mow your yard before Easter?

No I don’t

Paul, I watched the Pirates last weekend on my free version of Extra Innings.  I saw some bright spots (hope?) in Chavis, Castillo, Yajure, and the catcher Perez.  This week, reality set in, and it's possible that a lot of the team will be dealt away by the trade deadline.  Gamel, Newman, Tsutsugo are sure to be dealt.  What of Perez? He looks solid to me, but they have the first round prospect in AA (I think).
Zeise
11:16
Every veteran on the roster is a candidate to be traded. This is the year that they need to turn their veterans into prospects but also turn them into Major League players. We need to see some of these young guys coming up this season

Don’t you think the Steelers were “really good at drafting wide receivers” while Ben Roethlisberger was really good at quarterbacking, and not so good when Ben got older? It’s funny to me that teams place so much weight on selection but often don’t know how to develop players at certain positions.
Zeise
11:17
I don’t know if I buy that completely to be honest. I mean Diontae Johnson was a good pick, Chase Claypool has shown flashes.
Nick from Virginia

In your opinion if the Pens are out of the playoffs quickly, will the teams ownership/management forgo any attempt to resign Rust, Letang, and Malkin and just start a rebuild?  Personally I see an effort to resign Rust or Letang no matter what but I think this is Geno’s last season in black and gold.
Zeise
11:18
If they are 1 and done I could see a scenario where they are semi blowing it up. I don’t see how they can sign all three and I think Rust is going to get a big bag somewhere else
Chuck from Michigan

Hi Paul, love your chats.  I say Steelers "do whatever it takes" to get Jordan Davis, DT, Georgia in the first round.  Potential to transform the Steelers defense with his talent.  If Colbert/Tomlin insist on drafting a QB, pick one up with Round 3 pick, and sign Joe Flacco as the fourth QB and let the competition begin!  Appreciate our thoughts.
Zeise
11:20
Some people think Jordan Davis isn’t worth the 20th pick because he is a two down player. I don’t agree, I think he is a great player and will be a great pro. I would be OK with Davis

If one of the sides ends up regretting the Hayes long term deal, is it more likely to be the team or the player?
Zeise
11:22
The player. I estimate he left about $100 million on the table. I have no idea what he and his agent are thinking

Paul, why do MLB teams want to commit to star players for seven, eight, nine years at $30 or $40 million a year? I get that it may be a bargain in the long run since salaries rise, but at the same time there is so much risk to the team, especially since it is guranteed money. Injury, natural decline, etc.  And the Browns doing the same thing with Watson is beyond insane.
Zeise
11:22
Supply and demand. That is what the market asks now
The Real TP Hunter

I hope I'm wrong, but the Pens look like a one and done, maybe a second round playoff team, this year. What are the offseason moves? Who stays among Letang, Malkin, Rust? And do you keep Rakell?
