I saw a very interesting interview with the University of Washington AD recently. Two points she made: College sports aren't professional, if so they'd have only 2 sports, football and men's hoops. Second, you can't be in favor of college athletes as employees and pros AND be upset about differences b/w men's and women's sports treatment such as the disparity b/w the two hoops tourneys a few years back. Your thoughts?

The Pirates have only 1 legitimate starting pitcher with Quintana. I have never seen the Pirates in my lifetime with worse starting pitching. Not that the other positions are great but they would be at least competitive with average starting pitching. This is an embarrassment. Agree?

I guess the Pens are going to live and die with Malkin the rest of the playoffs with Sid most likely in concussion protocol. He takes silly penalties and gives the puck away constantly but he always has 1 or 2 great highlight plays as well. Friday's game is huge. They better win or Rangers win in 7.

Malkin CANNOT take stupid penalties. I'm sure The Rags will be targeting him & Jake. He has to cool it. He only got away with that crosscheck because the Refs called it a different penalty or they might have reviewed that.

Cole Tucker quit switch hitting. Big deal. He's a dud. Most teams would send him down to Triple A to work on that. Better yet, these are things you work on in ST, down in Bradenton. He needs to go somewhere asap!
