Welcome back!! Let’s chat......

Hi Paul
Dennis
12:02
Good morning,
Zeise
12:02
Hello and hello! Hope all is well now let’s get it started .....

Do you know how sophisticated the Notre Dame offense is?  Curious how much Claypool will have to learn (obviously alot).  Also is he known as a decent blocker?
Zeise
12:05
The only knock I’ve read on Claypool is that he isn’t good at getting off the line if players get physical with him
Dennis

back in the 50’s 60’s teams like Oklahoma & Texas had running backs who also could kick. They used the quick kick to them out of the ,sometimes kicks going70 , 80 yds. 1st is there an athlete who could run/kick could this work in the pro’s as Myron Cope would say if not why not.  Thanks!
Zeise
12:06
The way everything is so specialized I don’t know if it would work. And I don’t think players would want to take on more responsibility, either

Which Steeler quarterback got the fewest points in a game last season? Is it smart or dumb to think he is the answer going forward?
Zeise
12:08
I don’t think it matters. Last season was one of those you just throw out the window. A lot went wrong for the Steelers offensively. It is just one of those seasons you delete from your memory and start over

Hello Paul! A lot of people are down on Ben saying that he has only one TD in the superbowls, etc. But nobody remembers how they got there... At Cincy, at Indy and specially at Den...! And I think he could and should have been MVP vs Arizona more than Santonio... I think if Ben is all right, we can have a great 2020 (if there is a 2020). Stay Healthy!!! Vamos Steelers!!!
Zeise
12:10
Well I agree with you - Ben has had a great career and if he is healthy and playing well, the Steelers are gonna be fine. But that’s a bit if......
John Strange
12:10
Should we be looking at 2022 as the year sports get back to normal? 2025?
Zeise
12:10
I’d say 2021
John Strange
12:10
Who will be the better pro quarterback ... Joe Burrow or Trevor Lawrence?
Zeise
12:12
I’m a huge Trevor Lawrence fan so I say him. I just don’t know if Burrow is that good or if he was on one of the most loaded teams in college football history. He had one year at that level. Lawrence has done it for three years

One athlete from each Pittsburgh team - pick the one that represents the "Pittsburgh Way" the best... I'd say Mario Lemieux, Roberto Clemente, and Hines Ward...
Zeise
12:14
Great question: Sidney Crosby, Willie Stargell and Troy Polomalu

Dukes hoops fans here and Pitt football fan. Is Penn State not playing Pitt in football the same as Pitt not playing Duquesne in basketball? What's your take?
Zeise
12:17
It is the exact same thing. There is no difference at all. I have loved the number of ways Pitt fans have twisted themselves into pretzels trying to explain how Penn State vs Pitt in football is different than Pitt vs Duquesne in basketball. It isn’t different, just stop.

Saw and old show where golfers were in these one man carts. I hope leaving the pin in, the upside down cups and not raking the traps may be things that are with us stay. Funny how fast you can play. What do you think?
Zeise
12:20
I would agree. I love having my own cart - as bad as I spray the ball, I need it!! But you are right it is so much faster to play right now — just the single cart cuts time. Also the flag staying in the hole saves time because guys just get up and putt. I like it. Only thing that sucks - no 19th hole.....

12:21
Is there any player drafted by the Steelers who seems like a steal to you?
Zeise
12:23
I love the pick of Kevin Dotson. I think he has a chance to be a real steal for them. He has all the elements - size, strength, good athleticism - to be a dominant blocker

Hey Paul!  Thanks for the chats!  I've read/ heard in various mediums that the Pirates would be best served to trade Josh Bell as part of their "rebuilding" project.  I can't help that think that he is only beginning to scratch the surface of his potential and could potentially become one of the best players in the game!  This prospect especially gets heightened if the DH lingers in the Nat League beyond this year.  With a decent young lineup in place with Newman, Reynolds, etc to build around and him as a center piece, what are your thoughts and keeping him or dealing him and when would you execute a trade if that is what you feel is best?
Zeise
12:28
The thought process is that Bell’s value won’t likely be higher as he gets closer to free agency and has less years of control. And the Pirates aren’t likely to be ready to win by the time they will have to trade him anyway. I would love to see them sign him to a long term deal

Is Big Ben completely tone deaf not only in getting a haircut but POSTING it? Was that truly necessary?
Zeise
12:31
Any time I hear the words tone deaf or optics or bad look It feels like someone took their nails down a chalkboard. And I immediately stop listening to the discussion and I want to pound my fiat into someone’s face. Tone deaf is one of those newfangled BS phrases people  use to make the rest of us think they are insightful and empathetic even though they are neither. As for Ben, get over it

Don't know what I will do with my Sunday nights now that THE LAST DANCE has danced. Steelers 70s was suggested as a topic for something like this. Turmoil at QB, the Al Davis lawsuit, the Immaculate Reception, even the steroids controversy...lot of touch points. Any other subjects/teams you can think of for a similar series?
Zeise
12:39
I’ve said the most fascinating one of local interest would be Pitt athletics from the day Wannstedt got tired to the day Jeff Capel got hired. You laugh but think about all of the nonsensical things that went on - the aftermath of Wanny getting fired, Haywood hired then arrested and fired, Todd Graham debacle, the AD wanting Mario Cristobal and being outvoted and Pitt hiring Paul Chryst, three bowl games with interim coaches, Chryst leaving, PEDERSON fired, the Barnes era, pushing Dixon out the door and hiring Stallings, Barnes leaves, Lyke hired Lyke cleans house and fires Stallings, wants to hire Hurley but ends up with Capel...... It could be a lot of entertainment. For about eight years it was a three ring circus without the tent. Pitt fans really should appreciate the stability, normalcy and the fact that they are now set up for future success with Lyke, Capel and Pat Narduzzi. Pitt’s programs are on the right path as long as they don’t screw it up again.

Many have stated that a shortened MLB season would benefit the Pirates; what is your opinion and why. Thanks.
Zeise
12:43
I think what people are saying is it COULD (not would) benefit a team like the Pirates and here is why — because they don’t need to be as deep as the top teams in a shorter season. The 162 game season doesn’t lie - it is long and a grind and so the best teams with the most money and theoretically most depth are able to survive it and hold on through injuries and whatnot. In an 82-game season, the Pirates could be good enough in smaller sample sizes that they are able to contend. Go back to 2011 and 2012, for instance, and see where they were in the standings after 82 games. They finished like 25 games out the one year and like 18 the other because over 162 games they were exposed.

12:43
what is your own opinion about the disagreement between the owners and players in mlb?
Zeise
12:44
I think they need to understand that if they dont get a deal done they could kill the sport for a lot of years. This isn’t a long term negotiation, it is a one-year deal in the midst of the strangest year we have ever had

Hi Paul, with all the talk about Ben’s haircut , I think he would have been better off not having a video of it.  While not intending to, it makes him seem like he doesn’t have to comply with the Governor’s order, that he is above that while his barber may now be in a bad position.  It may not be a big deal, but try telling that to those who have lost family members or friends.  It’s the principle of the whole thing.
Zeise
12:48
There are many things I care about. Ben’s haircut is not one of them. I think one of the worst things that has happened during this shut down time is people have gotten bored and worry way too much about way too many dumb things. And there are also way too many people worried what everyone else is doing. How about we get back to minding our own business.

What is with the WSPN and their one note song on how the Steelers should sign Newton or even Flacco?  Newton has been injured just as Ben has been.  Flacco is done.
Zeise
12:50
Apparently the Steelers will implode as an organization if they don’t sign a backup quarterback. I mean is there any storyline or whatever dumber than this one? The Steelers have made it clear they won’t sign another quarterback. Nothing to see here, time to move on from this

Any comments on the Last Dance, especially as to how Pippen and Grant were portrayed?  Thanks Paul.
Zeise
12:52
I loved it. I thought it was great I also think Horace Grant and Scottie Pippen were not portrayed in the best light. If you know that this is basically a Jordan documentary then you understand why it was done the way it was done - from his perspective
