Tom in Punta Gorda
12:11
Hi Paul, I'm not in Punta Gorda anymore, Slippery Rock for a couple months. However I like saying Punta Gorda so I'm not changing the heading. Golf is great up here.
Zeise
12:11
Slippery Rock is very similar to Punta Gorda!

The Penguins seem convinced that bringing back the band will result in a better result next season. Is Hextall delusional or just hapless?
Zeise
12:12
i would say “not exactly a visionary” and not very creative. Hey if you bring back Malkin and Letang the Pens will continue to be a playoff team….. and not much more

Why is such a big deal being made about Oneil Cruz's height in relationship to him playing Short? It would seem to be an advantage in his range and vertical leaping ability:Coupled with a cannon for an arm I don't understand the problem.
Zeise
12:13
I’ve seen some balls he should get to that he hasn’t and not because he wasn’t where he needed to be but because he couldn’t get his glove down

Have you ever seen a baseball team outside of Little League get clobbered as often as the Pirates this season? Will they have to teach all of their infielders how to pitch?
Zeise
12:13
It is ridiculous and makes a farce out of the sport
Where is My Clark Bar?
12:13
Paul, what percent chance would you give PITT basketball making the big dance this year?
Zeise
12:14
I’ll say 50/50. I mean they have clearly upgraded but they were 6-14 in ACC games last year so what is realistic in terms of a turnaround? I think they will definitely be an NIT team but the NCAA may be a step too far

Paul let’s assume the rumors are true and Letang re-signs but Malkin departs for Carolina. Under that scenario I think the Penguins still make the playoffs for a 17th straight season. They did well enough last year when 71 was on IR. What are your thoughts?
Zeise
12:14
I would agree. But at this point, who cares if you can’t win in the playoffs

Paul, love reading your Steeler articles. As you point out, it is unlikely the Steelers give D. Johnson a new contract. What would be the harm in them restructuring  his current contract for just this year giving him a little more money (out of respect and to keep him happy this year). He can then test the FA market at seasons end.
Zeise
12:17
There is no reason to do that he is either going to get a long term deal with the Steelers or find another homw
Bernard
12:18
Odds Notre Dame ends up in B10?
Zeise
12:18
I would say 65-70 percent chance

Hi Paul. Baker & I shared a good laugh yesterday. He said the $3 Million he lost was worth it to get out of that hellhole situation. He also said he will make that back, make more in commercials down there.
Zeise
12:19
He has to be happy he is out of Cleveland. But he is playing with a bad team

Listen, I know every PITT fan wants to see Pickett start from day one. I get it. I grew up in squirrel hill, near Oakland where Dan Marino played. Only reason Steelers didn’t take Marino is because they thought he smoked dope. They missed bigly.  Pickett couldn’t carry Marino’s jock strap. He’s old and has a  low ceiling. Now trubisky has tools and could be the next great one. Better than the guy that resurrected his career with titans. What day you ? Still scratching my head about drafting cam’s brother and the late QB selection.
Zeise
12:20
I think the Steelers have the right path - play Trubisky this year and let Pickett grow and learn and take over next year. That’s the right approach

Penn State seems certain of locking in a berth in whatever college super football conference emerges from the current turmoil, but I wonder why Pitt is overlooked? The Nittany Lions, for all of their success on the field, have won only two national championships. Pitt won nine. Granted, Penn State's facility and fan base is much larger, but if Pitt continues to trend upward, why is it seemingly relegated to the second tier by the college football "experts" when super conferences are discussed?
Zeise
12:21
Because Penn State has the largest alumni base in the country and 110,000 fans in the stands. They bring fans and ratings and attention

12:23
What up with trade of ex Cleveland #1 pick, QB Baker REGAN mayfield. I guess his parent’s were from the GOP? I think he is better than Mason R. We should have swapped Rudolph for him! Good riddance! That guy weren’t same after helmet incident when uttered slur.
Zeise
12:24
I have no idea what that word salad means
Andrew Ross NYC
12:24
What is next with football conferences
Zeise
12:25
There will be a lot of movement, it will be declared over as everyone is happy and 5-7 years down the road we will do it all over again
Andrew Ross NYC
12:25
will WVU join SEC. just the thought of it gets my JUICE to flow !
Zeise
12:26
I am not sure what WVU adds to the SEC
Manny Banuelos
12:26
Hola Paul. Should I worry after last night about being DFAed again? I haven't really unpacked everything yet.
Zeise
12:26
You will survive a few more weeks. But what we saw last night was not encouraging!
Andrew Ross NYC
12:27
shout out today my man Ed Lev and the salads he makes

OK!

12:35
Good afternoon Paul who do the pens need to sign when free agency starts or what changes do they have to make
Zeise
12:35
If they resign Malkin and Letang they won’t have money to make any significant moves or changes
Bruce
12:35
If the ACC breaks up, like many are predicting, where does that leave Pitt football?
Zeise
12:36
Pitt will be fine once the dust settles. Pitt will be fine once the dust settles. Pitt will be fine once the dust settles. Rinse, repeat, rinse repeat
Jack Johnson
12:37
Hey Paul. You were away. Jack Johnson is a Stanley Cup Champion! Repeat that! Plus The Penguins still have to pay off part of my salary after my buyout. So life is good, brah.
