I’m trying to understand the question - is there a typo?
Phoebe

Hello Mr. Z.  I’ve noticed a number of local news and sports guys dye their hair from time to time.  Is that a personal decision or does management “suggest “ they do that?  Personally, I think they would look better if they let their hair go gray instead of trying to look 20 years younger.
Zeise
12:45
Are you Phoebe Cates? I loved you in Fast Times!! As for your question, I have no idea. I’m assuming Rich Walsh spends a lot to make his hair look perfect!!

Which of the Steelers Hall of Fame induction speech’s are you most looking forward to hearing..if any?
Splendid Splinter

Do you think it makes sense to force a team to place a fielder in a spot where a given batter never hits the ball, all in the interest of raising batting averages? That isn’t old school, it is silliness just because batters refuse to take advantage of what they are given.
Zeise
12:48
Ok that makes more sense. I think they want to scale back the shifting and I don’t have a problem with it. Leagues have to protect their product. That’s why there are all kinds of rules in the NFL about who can line up where. I don’t want to see shifts outlawed but they do need to be curtailed a little
Big Ben
12:49
Will my QB rating be better this year than last?
Zeise
12:50
Yes, I think so and I think you will be more efficient than ever. That is if you allow your offensive coordinator to call plays
Bill
12:50
Do you think Big Ben has anything left in the tank? I remember Brett Favre who seemed to age 10 yrs in his last season 2010.
Zeise
12:51
I do. I really do. I don’t think he is gonna be one of the top QBs in the league but he is gonna play well enough to win games
Jason
12:52
I take it Hopkins loosing a tooth won’t help him make the team? Sad situation
I’m sorry Haskins…typo lol
Bernard
12:56
Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu?
Zeise
12:57
Jason - I don’t think Haskins did anything that would merit him getting cut, at least from reports so far. It sounds like he got punched in the face by his wife. Once we get the whole story that could change but so far it sounds like he didn’t really do anything wrong
Forbes Field
12:58
I think the same thing about the stadiums. Given that the argument for PNC was it would make the Pirates competitive and that with few exceptions it has not, what will the argument for a new stadium be and how much resistance to funding a new one will there be?
Zeise
12:59
I’m not a fan of tax payer money paying for stadiums and never have been. So I would hope that the next time it comes up the politicians don’t cave to threats of teams that they may have to leave. These owners can afford to finance their own stadiums
Elvis

Hey Paul, any chance you could get Mike Lange on your radio show.  I would love to hear you interview him and I’m sure everyone would love to hear his stories.  Thanks.
Zeise
1:00
I don’t think he could do it until he is fully retired and no longer associated with the team and their radio network. We are a competitor
Bernard

Does expanding the NCAA football playoffs help Pitt recruiting?
Zeise
1:01
I don’t think so, it will give more teams access to the playoffs though so that’s a good thing. As for Troy vs Ed Reed - Ed Reed was a better safety, Troy was a better football player

I think with right upgrades through the years PNC park could last as long as a Fenway or a Wrigley.  Heinz field though won’t last very long though…especially when you see  what new fields in LA and Vegas / Allanta all have now.
Zeise
1:04
It isn’t that they aren’t lasting - it is that they don’t have all the fool new bells and whistles and these guys all need to keep up with the Jones
Bernard
1:04
So now NCAA players are entering transfer portal and making their own coaches re-recruit them?  Talking about Cockburn at Illinois particularly.  Just another example of how the transfer portal is making a mess of college hoops.
Zeise
1:06
It is just changing the way coaches recruit. That’s all. It isn’t ruining things necessarily it is just making them rethink their model. My guess is that recruiting high school players will become less of a priority

Paul - Yes or no, will Big Ben be the quarterback play in more than 10 games this year?
Zeise
1:06
Yes
Jock Sutherland
1:06
Ok then who is the sexiest male athlete around then :)
Zeise
1:06
Me, of course.....
Duke fan
1:06
Paul, do you think Pitt hoop fans like me should be encouraged by the players Capel is bringing into the program and those he is in on possibly signing?  H2P!
Zeise
1:07
I think that he has upgraded the talent level. The question is, has he done it enough to elevate the team to contend in the ACC. They aren’t there yet but I do expect them to be more competitive and win more games
Jack Deloplaine
1:08
Unless you consider Harris a bruiser, is there any room/need on this squad for a bigger running back?
Zeise
1:08
Isn’t that what Benny Snell football is supposed to be?
Tiger
1:09
Can you explain the difference between links golf and regular?
Zeise
1:10
From Golf Monthly:
“The links” isn’t a term specific to golf courses. It is simply a strip of generally undulating, but always sandy, terrain linking the sea and the arable farmland around the edges of the British Isles.”

As with many things the Pirates do, not looking very hard for a backup catcher makes no sense. The signed other position players right out of the dumpster- Nogo, Frazier, Gamel and more. What’s the difference?
Zeise
1:11
They had four journeymen catcher types in spring training, one got hurt and Perez is who they liked best.
Benson DuBois
1:12
Would a different owner really move the needle for the Pirates?  Not a Nutting fan, but I don't think it would.
Zeise
1:12
Absolutely. He has really worn out his welcome among fans. A new owner would have a very long honeymoon period
