OK let’s get started. Sorry I’m a few minutes late but the idiots ahead of me on the golf course played so damn slow it takes the joy out of golf. Do people really enjoy 5 hour rounds? Seriously? 4 hours is all it should take to golf. Good lord some of these people act like they are playing for the Open Championship. I’m watching them hit the ball and saying “dude you are gonna shoot 110 stop taking 50 practice swings and marking every damn putt” OK rant over let’s get started

T Johnson, Bucs #1 pick, sounds like a very confident & positive individual--on how he & the team will progress & win--How is that taken/viewed by teammates/management with the "new kid on the block"?
Zeise
12:07
If he performs well it will be fine. If he doesn’t he will just sound like another blowhard idiot

Your impression of Jim Phillips comments at ACC Kickoff. Thanks!
Zeise
12:10
He is delusional. The ACC is as guilty as anyone for all this conference mess and to act like they aren’t a big part of it is silly

With Tiger gone, the golf majors have reverted back to being self-reliant on being significant enough that it almost doesn't matter who wins. And with these renegades banned from the playoffs, I think LIV dies on the vine. What say you?
Zeise
12:19
I don’t think so. I think what happens is the PGa Tour comes to its senses and works out a deal with LIV and they work together

12:19
Do you trade the yinxzer made good Bednar and Reynolds for more prospects? I say hold the line. These could be good pieces.
Zeise
12:19
If you aren’t going to give Reynolds a long term deal trade him. And you should trade Bednar
Mary Kay Cabot

Hi Paul. With Desean, how many games do you think he will get? It's getting pretty close to training camp here.                                                               I know one thing, I won't interview him alone.      Just sayin'.
Zeise
12:20
I think it will be like 4-6 games

If as reported the Steelers new stadium naming rights deal triples what they were getting and that helps them put out a better product, who cares what the name is as long as the last four letters are $$$$?
Zeise
12:22
Obviously the money is all that matters. You get paid any way you can and the money could help them pay coaches, give bonuses, bump salaries for people like Burt Lauten, etc, etc

Konnichiwa Paul. Should I be worried about the Trade Deadline Aug 2nd? I make a lot of yen.

Nobody wants you, so no….

I tried to get this into yesterday's mailbag but think I sent it too late, though maybe you've just had your fill of questions about college football conference expansion. Why did the Big Ten take both UCLA and USC? If the goal is to be in the TV market they'd just need one. Whenever people talk about why the Big Ten isn't after Pitt we hear it's because Penn State puts them in the Pittsburgh market. Did they take both LA schools because they're long standing traditional rivals? And Penn State and Pitt weren't?

Hello Paul. Like Yoshi, I'm worried, too.

Part 2. When there's talk of the Big Ten taking more Pac 12 schools I always see Washington and Oregon as the names. Why not Stanford and Cal? Both are as good, probably better academic fits and they'd put the Big Ten into the San Francisco-Oakland market.
Zeise
12:23
I think Stanford, Washington and Oregon are the ultimate goals. As for the two LA teams, you have guaranteed you have the LA market for both football and basketball.

Always look forward to your chats. I have always liked Kevin Newman. Why isn’t Cruz back in Indy working on his batting and letting Newman get back to SS? Yes he has power potential, but he looks lost at the plate right now. A 36% SO rate just doesn’t cut it. My other question is is what do the Bucs do with the plethora of middle infielders they have drafted. I know that competition is a good thing, but there are only so many spots. Trading some of them seems obvious.
Zeise
12:24
They think Cruz needs more work at the Major League level. That’s why. They aren’t sure more time at Class AAA will be useful

Greetings, Paul.  I am curious to hear your thoughts on Hextall's moves since the Game 7 OT loss to the Rangers.  The right side of the D is quite a strength now, although the left side has numerous questions ranging from BD's health / ability as he ages, MP's salary and apparent limited upside, and the recently signed Joseph (not to mention Friedman and Smith).  On whole, I would call those moves a push with a potential upgrade over last year possible.  Regarding the 12 forwards, not much has changed . . . noting, of course, JZ and KK could still be moved.  In net, nothing has changed.  In the end, my take is that the Pens are very close (dangerously close) to being the same team as they last year except for being 1 year older.
Zeise
12:26
I agree. If the goal was to change then you got it done. If the goal was to get better I don’t know that you accomplished that. And that is troubling
Big John
12:26
Hi Paul. Are you making the pilgrimage to St Vincent's next week?
Zeise
12:27
Not sure I will get there next week but I will definitely get there

Hi Paul, Heinz left Pittsburgh long ago, why cry over the name change?
Zeise
12:33
Because it is a Pittsburgh classic company. It is still identified with Pittsburgh and Acrisure is not
Dulac
12:33
Paul, what if LIV asks me to play over there?           I could write & do both.
Zeise
12:34
Considering what they are paying? You need to go there!!!
Shaq
12:35
Hey brother Paul. I might need those knuckleheads at TNT to agree to let me go play LIV golf over there. What do you think, brah?
Zeise
12:36
I’ve seen you swing the club. Don’t leave TV!!!

12:36
hey paul, whats going on with you, you print things that are so far fetched its crazy, putting bonds in the same sentence as clemente is unbelievable, clemente never on roids like bonds, barrys head doubled in size, so come on paul, snap out of it
Zeise
12:36
Bonds was never accused of steroids with the Pirates so you snap out of it
Big John
12:37
Do you think The Pirates will wind up with 100+ losses this year?
Zeise
12:37
Depends what they do at the deadline. As is, no. But if they off load some players like Reynolds and Bednar, yes
Bernard
12:38
Do the "Heinz fans" know that the company is owned by a Brazilian conglomerate and has very little remaining presence in Pittsburgh?  I find the reaction to the name change very odd.
Zeise
12:38
thats not at all the point - it is still a brand closely associated with Pittsburgh
Bernard
12:39
I recently read a nice article on Jack Nicklaus in an Ohio newspaper.  The reporter wrote he's a great man, golfer and advocate for Ohio and Columbus but it is "fair to critique his politics."  Do reporters ever write similar caveats re liberal athletes?
12:43
Which QB has the most upside, Pickett or Trubisky?
Zeise
12:44
Trubisky has better physical tools. So I would say he does but does he find a way to tap into them?
