The very best NL player from the mid '70s to mid '80s was Mike Schmidt.  Dave Parker was a pretty close second for most of those years.  How is that dude not in the HoF?

Thanks for the chats Paul.  Love your golf story.  My buddy shoots in the 100's and takes 3 practice swings every single shot.  I enjoy telling him he just swung a gold club 400 times today.  Good to see Pens made some moves, ones that make sense.  Still dont like the Geno deal but at least they did something different on the blue line

I know it's the sports silly season with the media trying to fill air time and print space until something important happens, so I don't dwell a lot on these manufactured lists put out by everyone. However, I slightly disagree with your take on Barry Bonds being a first-round induct into the Pirates Hall of Fame. Great, great player, but he did nothing in the post season and couldn't even get the Pirates a pennant. My first ballots produced when it mattered most, hence Clemente, Stargell, Maz, Blass and Honus get in first on my ballot. Those guys also make you feel good about being a Pirates fan, which Bonds rarely did because he was such a disagreeable personality.

This is probably going to get my yinzer card revoked but no way Blass, Maz is very overrated based on one home run and Wagner played in an era when half the talent pool was excluded. So, I stand by what I wrote - Bonds should be in first class

Thanks for chats.   Do you think the 100 million a year the 2 big conferences is going to be valid? If so then why would the big 2 add -any more teams unless the team they add can bring in 100 million a year. Why would they take less just to add teams?  Clemson FSU might make sense. But Pitt BC GT and others would force the conference to cut each slice of pie smaller.
