They have the highest paid defense because they have the highest paid player at two positions and a third player who makes a lot of money. They also have signed free agents and they usually cost a little more money. It isn't relevant to me, the question is can they play well?

Paul, what's up with all the faux outrage over the Narduzzi interview?  Grant it, comes off as sour grapes about losing because of playing a 3rd string QB, but articles by Starkey, and comments on the radio by Ron Cook (a noted Pitt antagonist) are over the line and fit with the anti-Pitt agenda with the local media and the PG in particular (yourself excluded obviously :) )

I think the point is this - 1) How does that help you? 2) You just won the ACC, maybe it is time to drop the chip on shoulder "we get no respect" card and 3) You are 1-6 against the Big Ten, maybe stop talking about how it is overrated and your team would win it. There just is no reason to go there on any of these points.

Anyone can see that Cruz is a phenomenal athlete and talent, but can the Pirate announcers and writes stop speaking in superlatives every time  that he does anything, even routine plays? Let the kid grow and develop before putting him in the HOF.

Oh, I know. The dumbest thing is the way the media covering the team slobber on themselves every time he throws the ball from short to first at 97 MPH!!!!! Who cares. Let's watch the guy grow into a good player

Did I miss something in MLB or does high exit velocity with a home run count for more than one run?
Zeise
1:03
Ha Ha Ha Ha. That's another one of my favorites -- "Joe Schmoe hit the ball 600 feet for a homer. But I am sure you don't realize he hit it hard until I tell you the exit velocity!!!"

So Diontae Johnston is just going to do what TJ Watt did last year. Tell you what Paul. Cowher & Noll wouldn't put up with all that nonsense!
Zeise
1:04
They would have no choice. This is a whole new era of professional sports. There was no free agency for most of Noll's career so he could operate that way. These days, the athletes hold the key to their own careers and they know it

Hi Paul, Any Bucco moves coming in the next few days?  My guess is Gamel, Newman, and, who else?
Zeise
1:05
Gamel, Newman and Quintana are the three I would say are most definitely gone and probably Chris Stratton too

Hi Paul.  What if Rudolph has a fantastic camp/pre-season?  What are the chances of him remaining a Steeler?
Zeise
1:05
I think barring an injury he is almost assuredly headed somewhere else.

Nats Soto to Pirates??? Who are these people and how do they remain employed with idiotic articles like this?
Zeise

Hey dare to dream, right!!!

All the pearl clutching re Ben's comments about me first focus is laughable.  His comments were spot on.  Folks may hate the messenger but his comments were spot on!
Zeise
1:05
But again, they apply to him as much as anyone.

Isn't Big Ben criticizing young players for being selfish the classic example of  the pot calling the kettle black?
Zeise
1:06
Yes, exactly
Ben, just Ben

Hi Paul. Why is my good name still being thrown out there in print & on TV. I feel slandered.             I have no ego & I wanted to walk away quietly from the game of football.
Zeise
1:06
Ha Ha ha - yes, we can tell by you doing your personal media tour on the eve of training camp
Acrisure Field

Yo Paul. So is everybody used to my name yet? Near year it's in bold-faced banners :                Acrisure Presents 2023 Picklesburgh.
Zeise

I don't even know who you are any more!!! OK I never knew who you were and I will never call it anything but some version of Heinz Field - maybe the Old Heinz Field!!
Bernard

If you replaced Ed B as HoF rep, what Steelers player currently eligible would you most aggressively support?
Zeise
1:08
Ben Roethlisberger, that's a no brainer
Bernard

Would you most surprised by competent OC performance or improved run defense this season?
Zeise
1:17
I think the offense will be competent. I will be very surprised if there is a significant improvement in the run defense

Can you tell me in your opinion what was Ben's greatest regular season? Play-offs not included.
Zeise
1:18
It would be one of those years under Todd Haley. As much as he hated Haley, he was the best offensive coordinator Ben worked with because he was the one guy who had no fear of telling Ben "NO" and challenging him on things

Does anyone within the Steelers or Pitt organization pull Narduzzi to the side & tell him to tone his opinions down towards his ex-coaches, especially towards Canada who works next door to Narduzzi? Not Canada, Whipple etc. fans, but I think its a terrible LOOK-
Zeise

No, the Steelers don't tell Pitt what to do nor do the care what he does. They have a good realtionship but what he does doesn't Affect them

Also I’ll be in Raiegh this weekend. Any suggestions on the Cook Out menu?
Zeise

You have to get a shake above and beyond everything. The food - the meat - is all really good and so are most of the sides. The burgers are tremendous

Did the Steelers make a mistake by playing along with Watt in training camp last year? Now DJ wants the same treatment, and while he is not Watt caliber, you can certainly see his point. I suggest it would be better moving forward to expect players to show up for camp in shape and ready to work.
Zeise

No because Johnson isn

't Watt. They had to acquiesce to Watt because he is the best player at his position in the NFL. Guys can try to use their leverage but if they don't have it, like Watt did, they will only hurt themselves

Good afternoon Paul.   A good amount of my time is spent listening to you and the other hosts on 93.7 The Fan. Please be honest:  Is the so-called dislike between some of the hosts real or done for ratings?  Thank you Paul.
Zeise
1:30
What dislike? We all bust each other's stones a little bit but there isn't this major riff or hatred among most of us. We all get along

The Steelers over/under for wins this year is 7.5. Which way would you go on that number and why?
Zeise
1:30
I think over and that seems like a way too easy bet to make
