How weird is Bob Nutting?
Zeise
12:23
I don’t understand the question
Mercury
12:23
Any prediction as to who might be the surprise team in the NFL this season?
Zeise
12:24
Jacksonville. I think they will be coached well and Lawrence will be better and the defense will be better. I see them winning 8 or 9 games
Donna
12:24
Hi Paul, do you have any thoughts on Amanda Renner being on the Steelers’ preseason games?  Thank you.
Zeise
12:25
I haven’t really watched or heard much of her so I don’t really have an opinion. I liked Missi Mathews a lot and wonder what happened to her as she has not been terribly visible this preseason

Paul, I am "concerned" over recent late round draft picks by the Steelers.  Namely, Oladukun, Percy Harvin, and Conner Hayward.  I don't see their value.  All could have been had as free agent additions.  Given the subpar OL performance last year and this last preseason game, those picks would have been better spent on linemen.
Zeise
12:25
I predict Harvin will have a good season. Heyward will have a role and is good on special teams

Hi Paul, enjoy these chats. Do you know why Ben treated Mason the way he did?  Was it because he viewed Mason as a threat to his job or was it something personal?  Thanks.
Zeise
12:26
Because Ben is incredibly petty and insecure. And his way of dealing with it was that passive aggressive stuff, which is what he does
Pat Narduzzi
12:27
Hi Paul. Did I pick the right Starting QB? I got another week or so of pacing the floors over at HQ.
Zeise
12:28
Absolutely. The upside of Kedon Slovis is far higher than Nick Patti. I think they could win with Patti and be fine, he is a good player. But Slovis has a chance to be an NFL guy and could take them to the next level

If we assume that regardless of whom the Steelers QB is this year, they will struggle to make the playoffs does it not make more sense to start Kenny Pickett and let him get the experience?
Zeise
12:28
That isn’t how they think. They think “who gives us the best chance to win right now” And that’s why Trubisky will get the nod
Darlene

Congratulations on your position with KDKA!   Will you still be doing your radio show or will someone take your place?
Zeise
12:29
I’ll be doing a mixture of things! And thanks. You will still hear me on the Fan some
Amanda
12:29
Even though unfortunately you are still on the air doing the Nightly Sports Call you have not done it with Rick Walls. I made sure of that. Laughing and making jokes about drinking when I called in showed me and my husband how pathetic you 2 are. Shame! Shame! Shame!
Zeise
12:29
Go have another drink and go back to sleep

Hi Paul. Did you happen to catch that 2023 Pirate schedule yet? I say whew, awful. Your thoughts?
Zeise
12:32
What is bad about it?
Donny
12:33
Id never thought I would say this but Cherington looks worse than Neal Huntington at this point. With few exceptions the farm system is way below expectations!! Most of our supposed top prospects are hurt or underperforming and we have no pitchers!! Paul this rebuild SUCKS!! 3 DAMN YEARS FOR THIS?!?!
Zeise
12:34
It is too early to go there but you probably are on the right track. Next year is huge, they have to show improvement and it needs to be tangible
Jock Sutherland
12:36
What are your thoughts on the PGA’s latest shot in the golf tour battle
continuing….  Yesterday. PGA tour. Seems the big loser here is the major championships.  They now have 26 tourneys with bigger payouts then they paid this past season.
Zeise
12:38
The winners are the golfers. I think it is about time some challenged the PGA and made them do things right
Bernard
12:39
Has Green really been so bad that he might be/should be cut?
Zeise
12:40
He has been bad but I can’t imagine him being so bad they cut him in year 2

12:46
Hey Paul, if you could play 18 with three of your favorite golfers and a second round with 1 player each from the Penguins, Pirates and Steelers, who would they be?
Zeise
12:47
Can Heyward, Sidney Crosby and ONeil Cruz and then Tiger, Brooks and Rory
Bernard
12:47
So Griner entered Russia 3 days before Russia invaded Ukraine (and had been massing troops on the border for months) in order to make $1 million + playing for a team owned by a Russian oligarch very friendly to Putin. If Mickelson were detained in Saudi Arabia for the same charges, would the media be screaming holy heck to get him out?
Zeise
12:47
They would not likely care
Mercury
12:47
Why not start Robinson now at ILB?  He may make some mistakes, but at least he’ll thump some people.
Zeise
12:49
I believe they will give him a chance if Bush continues to play poorly. You just don’t give up on a first round pick you gave up that much for in year 4. They have to give him a chance to start the year
Joel
12:49
Paul, I will admit it’s too soon to cut bait with Cherington. But don’t the Pirates have to fire the hitting coach? When your top prospect and the one potential superstar in the organization is bringing in his own coach to help, what does that say about the major league staff? Some accountability is warranted just as a sop to a teed off fan base.
Zeise
12:50
The pitching coach the hitting coach and a lot of others. The development of these players has been poor

If Kenny is heir apparent.  And Mason is serviceable, but will never be a long term starter and a good back up.  Instead of shopping Mason, shop Mitch, get a bigger return than Mason would yield.  Have Mason start the season, then insert Kenny when it's right. And then keep Mason as a backup long term.  Would this be  a better path then dumping Mason in the next two weeks and getting nothing?  Also, Mitch is on a one year deal.  If Kenny is the projected starter next year, he will be gone anyway.
Zeise
12:52
I’ve said this multiple times. But Trubisky is the starter so Rudolph is the odd man out
Joel
12:53
The stunning neglect of the O-line is going to lead to the end of the magical Tomlin .500 and above streak. Agree?
Zeise
12:55
How can you say they neglected it? They brought in and drafted how many guys the last two years? The problem has been evaluation, not neglect. They have brought in a lot of guys who aren’t good enough
Joel
12:55
No matter how good Pitt is supposed to be, they seem to always manage to lose a game they should win in shocking fashion. What’s their first loss this year?
