I think he is the kind of guy who is signed not because he can help but because he plugs a hole at the bottom of the depth chart. If they are relying on him for anything beyond plugging a hole, they are in trouble

Paul, I don't share in the hand-wringing over the defeat by the Raiders.  They outplayed a defense depleted team.  Let's move on and see where we go once everyone is back and healthy.  Your take?

No there is a ceiling that is higher than that and I think that Pitt is Pitt’s own worst enemy when it comes to trying to build a football program

As long as Ben is the quarterback the running game will not have a real chance to develop because he favors the NO R......PO offense. I don’t think it will be markedly improved

I liked your column about Narduzzi after Pitt lost. It's been 7 years man. I think I speak for the majority of the fanbase when I say I'm friggin fed up with him. I'm sorry but in year 7 you shouldn't be losing to Western Michigan at home!

Did you see where Randy Bates said the other day that he was slow to make adjustments on Saturday. Is this guy for real? Pitt's coaching staff should be ashamed of itself. Is Narduzzi and or Bates on the hot seat?

They aren’t because Narduzzi is owed a lot of money and he is not gonna fire Bates, nor should he. What he should do is let Bates run the defense on his own.

Paul, hindsight is 20/20 but do you feel the Steelers brass has spent their day two draft capital poorly over the last few years?  The continual taking of WR's in the 2nd round (Juju, Washington, Claypool) were luxury picks at the expense of an obvious need for a rebuild of the O-line.  Now we have weapons, but we're unable to use them effectively. Thoughts?

I was at the Pitt game last weekend Paul and the crowd was terrible. Plus they don't take cash for refreshments and it took forever to get anything. What kind of product is this? Why would I want to come and watch Pitt play when they always underachieve and the stadium has all these stupid restrictions? I can't give away my New Hampshire tickets and I'm not even joking.

Hi Paul, I enjoyed your article on Sam Darnold.  Looking ahead, do you think there is anyone out there like Darnold who might be available to the Steelers next year?  Perhaps Gardner Minshew, Garropolo, Foles, or is it Rudolph/Haskins?

I cannot believe they will go into next year with only Rudolph and Haskins but I’m not excited about any of the three you mentioned. I would hope they sign a veteran that can actually compete for the job and win games

What is and/or will be going on with Trevor Bauer? The Dodgers aren't going to pay him not to pitch for the balance of his contract, are they? I read they don't want him playing for them. Does anyone, especially if LA picks up a big chunk of his salary? Does it seem like he'll be charged with anything?

Bush = Bust.  Given what they gave up for him and his lack or durability and impact plays when he is on the field, this pick was a miss, right?  Now, if he had been drafted later and they didnt give up picks, that would be a different story.

Jason Mackey wrote that he doesn't think the Pirates will spend much at all again for next year. Can't he at least sign a couple real free agents to help the team? I don't know how much more I can take of this.
