Is this the game that Tomlin teams always lose to an inferior team?
Zeise
11:59
Let’s get started! Have you paid attention to the NFL? Every team seems to have one of these losses. It is hard to win week after week. But I think the Lions are atrocious and their coach is a bit of a meathead so I will go with Steelers 24, Lions 13

Paul.   What happens when 7 days he wants to come back.   Rumor has it Colbert wanted to move on this off-season.   Does Ar2 finally say that’s enough
Zeise
11:59
I think Roethlisberger knows this is it for him. He knows he doesn’t have much left in the tank

Paul it’s pretty hard as a middle linebacker to be so silent.  I’ve never seen it before like Bush.   He literally goes all game without his name called.    He’s looking more and more like a ziggy hood bust
Zeise
12:00
He makes some plays just not many spectacular ones like you would hope given where he was drafted

After the events of this week I don’t think there is anything Capel can do to keep his job unless the team really overachieves this season.  He’s lost the fan base completely, The crowd at Pete was pathetic on Tuesday and doubt it will be any better going forward and how can anyone blame them.
Glad WVU is away this year. Pretty sure it would of been 75% mountaineers fans if was at home
Zeise
12:03
I was looking up his record - in Capels years as a coach in a Power 5 porgra
12:05
program meaning at Oklahoma and Pitt. He is 52-82 in conference games. And if you take the Blake Griffin year out he is 39-79. That isn’t close to good enough. And here is the thing when you add guys getting arrested, guys leaving the program by the truck load and recruits decommitting it is about the end. I’m not saying he can’t turn it around but it isn’t looking good
Mercury
12:05
Why do they always say Banner can only play right tackle? Is it because he really stinks at left tackle or is there some other reason?
Zeise
12:07
He apparently has the skill set for right tackle, which is more of a mauler and Road grader but he isn’t a great pass blocker as he is maybe 1/2 step slow in getting out of his stance to block those edge guys. So he fits on the left better

Even when they win, the Steelers' defense disappears in the fourth quarter.  Are they playing too soft when ahead?  Or is it a simple lack of depth behind the stars?
Zeise
12:08
No I think it takes teams some time to figure out what most of us already know - you can throw the ball down the field with success against the Steelers secondary.

12:08
Is the Steelers' o-line better or worse than you expected here in mid November?
Zeise
12:11
Right about where I thought. Moore has struggled. Dotson, who we were told was on the verge of getting benched by “insiders”, has played well, Green has improved, Turner is just OK and Chuks hasn’t been very good. As a whole the unit has been a mixed bag which is what we thought

Duquesne has 10 new players including three starting portal transfers. Pitt has no recruits. Are we to the point that programs will just cherry pick transfers and worry less about recruiting?
Zeise
12:14
Yes. It is already happening. You get the top players going to the top programs and the others are all going and getting transfers who are a little older ajd already developed

12:14
Prediction for Pitt football going forward. Win out and get an ACC championship game and a bowl. Or lose of these three coming up?
Zeise
12:14
I think they go 2-1 down the stretch here but things still break right for them to win the Coastal

I’m still good with the Minkah F acquisition two years ago but do you see him being one of the highest paid safeties? Delivers hard hits but doesn’t seem to wrap up on his tackling. What say you?
Zeise
12:17
There is no way they should give him all the money he wants or thinks. He should get. He has not been an elite player this yeae

Ben is now the most sacked QB of all time. A tribute or a demerit for hanging on to the ball too long in his prime?
Zeise
12:18
That was part of it. He also had a few years with a bad offensive line. He extended a lot of plays with his legs but also took a lot of hits

12:19
I see other teams in various leagues wave a yellow rally towel. Isn’t that our thing?  Pick another color.  Milwaukee did it and they barely have yellow in their uniforms.
Zeise
12:19
I think they are easy to see that’s the thing about that color
My first football question
12:19
Why does the Wildcat work when it does? The defense knows the play is almost surely a run and even if it's a pass it will be thrown by someone who's not done much passing. So why don't they just pile everyone up to stop the run? And why does the offense usually just move the quarterback to wideout rather than replace him with someone who would be better at pass catching if they were to throw and would block downfield better if it came to that?
Zeise
12:20
Because it is a play where the defense has to account for all 11 offensive players
Jim
12:20
OK, I admit that I took our great offensive lines for granted watching this current group. But saying that, how could Tomlin and Colbert have gone through training camp and the whole preseason and said "we are good with who we have"? They are not good and this should have been addressed early on. Am I wrong?
Zeise
12:22
They believe the younger players will get better and better and so they were just going to be patient. But like I said Chuks and Moore haven’t come along as fast as they hoped
My second (kind of) football question
12:22
With all the carrying on about Aaron Rodgers and COVID, I haven't been able to see if he's actually gotten sick or just tested positive. Do you know?
Zeise
12:22
Exactly. He doesn’t need to wait until Saturday to get healthy, just cleared. He is asymptomatic
Jim
12:23
Is there no one who can tell Tomlin that Ray Ray is not a good return man? Continually runs backwards and ball security is becoming an issue.
Zeise
12:23
I’ve had enough of Ray Ray as well. He does nothing for me as a receiver and his decision making is bad
Jim
12:23
Who will we see in the lineup now that Claypool is out for awhile? Please tell me it's not Ray Ray!!
Zeise
12:25
That’s who has benefitted from guys getting hurt before. So yes it will likely be Ray Ray
Yuri
12:25
Hello Paul.  It seems like Pitt’s basketball program is going from bad to worse.  Coach Capel ca not
Zeise
12:26
As I wrote - the school will have patience with losing if guys aren’t getting in trouble, people are coming to games and recruiting is going well. He is 0-3 in those other areas
Scott
12:27
Which is a better nickname for Percy Harvin, Re-Run or Fat Albert? I have been using them interchangebly but would like to settle on one. I am leaning toward Re-Run.
Zeise
12:27
Rerun ha ha ha One if my favorite characters of all fjmw

Hi Paul, let me start off by saying I think you get a bad rap for not being like the “majority of post gazette writers”..your not a homer or a Steelers fan per say, I read pure honesty and calling it like you see it !!! Having said that, where do you see the Steelers finishing this year and do you think Ben will get another bogus contract ?
