I said 10-7 at the start of the season and I think that’s about right now. Say they beat the Lions to get to 6-3 it would mean they go 4-4 down the stretch and that is what I would predict. They can beat anyone but have a few more loses in them too. As for Ben, I am more convinced than ever this is it

Paul luv the chats.  When is Benny Snail (Snell) going to show us something?
Zeise
12:32
Never. He is a one trick pony and he isn’t even great at that one trick

Can we expect lots of competition in the off season and preseason for the guys on Oline? I don't see an all-pro in the bunch, and to compete with Clev and Balt, I think we will to have better players.
Zeise
12:33
They will have some cap space and would be foolish not to get at least one legit lineman in free agency

Hello Paul.  It seems Pitt’s basketball program is going from bad to worse.  Coach Capel can not catch a break with his current players and recruiting.  Do you think Coach Capel can still rebuild the program and eventually succeed in the ACC?  Thank you Paul.
Zeise
12:36
A very honest answer - I have no idea what to think any more. He is just giving us no reason to believe he will get it done. But anything can happen so let’s just continue to watch this play out
12:37
Because there isn’t a lot of faith in the Lions on the road

Detroit isn't as bad as their record and we aren't as good as ours. How can we be favored by 8.5? Don't the bookies watch our games?

I answered the question before the question hit the chat!

After this week's game against Detroit, the schedule gets really tough with a trip to west coast. I would say the final record might be 9-8 or 10-7. Would this be good enough for a wild card spot?
Zeise
12:39
Looking at the AFC i think 9 gives you a good chance and 10 gets you in.

I still think it was a mistake to draft C Green instead of Meinerz. You can teach a technique but there is nothing you can do about the size. What was KC thinking?
Zeise
12:40
They love those centers who are athletic and can move well

What has happened to Pitt hoops? I know that it takes time to build a program back up, but losing players, losing fan support, losing to The Citadel and then losing their only 2022-23 recruit  does not reflect good on Capel or Pitt! l

As I said - Jeff Capel arrived with lots of hype and pomp and circumstance and expectations at an all time high. Looking back at his resume im
not Sure it was all justified

Hey Paul , with the de-commitment of Judah Mintz and the other players who have transferred, how much blame if any, do you place on Capel?  Thanks.
Zeise
12:42
He is the head coach and the buck stops with him

Many writers have stated the AFC is weaker than the NFC.  But, this past weekend, the AFC won 7 of the 8 interconference games, including wins over NFC leaders: Cowboys, Packers, and Rams.  So, the question: is the AFC getting stronger and the gap is less, or just a really bad weekend for the NFC?  The only AFC team to lose was LV, who is a mess....
Zeise
12:44
I think there are more teams capable of winning the Super Bowl in the NFC but the AFC is deeper

Watching Canada send Najee straight up the middle time and time again for no gain into a wall of Bear bodies was pure torture. This guy doesn't seem to have any creativity and I fear this punishment is taking major tolls on Najee's body.
Zeise
12:46
As I have said from the start - Canada was a bad hire given the fact that his offense is built around a mobile quarterback and quarterback run game. He has to try and call plays for a guy who can’t move

Hi Paul.  I want to congratulate Jacob Stallings for his well deserved Gold Glove.  He earned it.  I was disappointed that Bader won the Gold Glove over Brian Reynolds.  I guess the voters didn’t see some of the poor plays Bader made while playing the Pirates.  Hopefully, Stallings, Reynolds and Hayes will be considered for a Gold Glove next season.
Zeise
12:47
Jacob Stallings had a great, great season that’s for sure. He is a guy who has worked his way into a really good defensice catcher who gets big hits

Newton back to Carolina?
Zeise
12:48
Yes. I’m thinking this is what desperation looks like

12:48
Would it have made sense for Steelers coaches to insist RayRay fair catch the infamous fumble play?  We basically win the game if he fair catches it and we run the ball 3 times eating up most of the remaining clock?  I know he should know this, but maybe he isn't that bright?
Zeise
12:50
Honestly I don’t know that it matters - Ray Ray strikes me as a guy who is always looking to be a hero and as a result makes bad decisions

Any insights on Capel's failure to recruit?
Zeise
12:52
Yeah - he has not been very good at it. It is almost like his reputation as a great recruiters was way overstated. It turns out recruiting for Duke with Coach K as your closer makes anyone a great recruiter

ESPN did a story on the San Diego state Punter Matt Araiza who booms 80 yard punts with ease, but also is a pretty good field goal kicker - something the Steelers could have used last week. Do you see a new hybrid punter/kicker role emerging in the next few years.  Different skills but makes sense.
Zeise
12:53
It would take a special skill set to pull off both jobs at a high level so no, not really
Mercury
12:53
Can you think of any other sports team that has had three head coaches/managers in a row anywhere near as good as Noll/Cowher/Tomlin?
Zeise
12:54
What the Wteelers have done is unprecedented in terms of only having three coaches
Since 1969. Nobody else can come close to that claim.

12:55
Paul, do you feel any Bad News Bears vibes last few years with Steelers? The anything can go wrong and probably will sensation is unreal. We won. Cool.
Zeise
12:56
Not really, they still win more than they lose
