Hi Paul, I want to thank Rocky Bleier, Al Villanueva and all the players who have served our country, some like Rocky who were wounded and some who gave their lives.  God Bless Them and those who serve now.
Zeise

It is a holiday to celebrate guys like that.

Did you read the first of two articles about Jim Leyland in today's PG? If so, please explain why he is held in such high regards in these parts when he actually won nothing with teams that should have made at least one World Series and, worse yet, walked away from his Pirate contract when the going got tough?
Zeise
12:59
Since about 1979 the Pirates have won a division title three times and Leyland was the manager for all three. That’s why

Paul,People need to be more patient with the OL. Young men get much stronger going from age 23 to 28. And they gain a lot of experience. It is tough enough for a rookie thrown into a veteran line. To be thrown into a rookie line is almost unthinkable. They will be fine.

I think people are being patient: But Turner isn’t young and Chuks isn’t good enough
Jim

Is it just me or do you remember Bush being really good before his knee injury? Give him another year on the knee to come back to form?
Zeise
1:01
He was more dynamic and his speed and explosion were second to none. He still wasn’t good  but he made dynamic plays. Now he has lost a step

Thanks for the chats.  Seems like the Steelers are always a few years behind the league in their plans and systems.  With Ben fading out of the system, do the Steelers stay with what they have or look more for a QB that can also be a run threat?
Zeise
1:05
Mike Tomlin has been enamored with a mobile quarterback so I think no question they will go get a dual threat guy in the offseason
Mike
1:05
How is Melvin Ingram doing in KC?
Zeise
1:05
He had two big plays in that game last week against the Packers so I guess  good
Tommy
1:06
How many WR sweeps/end arounds will Steelers run this week?   CHI caught on after 3, I think they ran 9-10.   Canada realizes he isnt play calling vs Syracuse, right?
Zeise
1:06
I hate the jet sweep. I hate reveres. I think both plays are way overrated

If Cinn wins out do you think they make playoffs and if they do make playoffs do you think they deserved  to go?
Zeise
1:07
If Cincy wins out they will be in. I think it is simple math - there will not be four clear cut Power 5 teams with a better resume at that pon t
Jim
1:08
On a positive note, I think this could be one our better drafted classes with home runs on the first two picks, think Green and Moore can improve enough to make it a stellar class?
Zeise
1:08
Clearly they are getting the most out of these guys
Lou
1:08
With all of the Pens talk about Jarry struggling in shootouts, isn't the bigger point being missed that they just don't really have a true number one goalie capable of carrying the team when needed?
Zeise
1:09
I’ve been making that point for at least a year. He isn’t a next level goalie
Mercury
1:10
Why doesn’t Johnson return punts anymore? Do they really think he is more likely to get hurt returning a punt than getting tackled after a catch? I don’t remember any rash of injuries to punt returners.
Zeise
1:12
They seem enamored with Ray Ray
Steeltown

Paul, would love to see the steelers use D. watt like the ravens use their FB. When he’s not lead blocker he’s a good option for the qb if his first reads aren’t there. Doesn’t seem to matter who the ravens plug in that spot, it is successful. Thoughts?
Zeise
1:13
Do you think the Steelers are going to do anything different with the fullback? They just don’t use them
ordinaryfanman
1:13
Hi Paul love your show,  Please tell me why we don't throw the ball down the middle
Zeise
1:13
Because the quarterback can’t make those throws any more
Bernard
1:14
The biggest question marks coming into the season seemed to be OL and DB.  Which group do you see most room for improvement the rest of the season?
Zeise
1:15
The Oline has two rookies and a third guy who is essentially a rookie. So room for growth favors that unit
Bernard
1:15
Huge Justin Fields fan.  What did you think of his performance Monday and how do you see his career progressing?  Quality kid too.
Zeise
1:15
I liked what I saw from him and he moved around well and once they let him throw it down the field he made some big plays
James Brown
1:16
Pauley, what ever happened to the philosophy that you can find plug in backs anywhere and everywhere? Adrian freakin Peterson? Our second rate subs?
Zeise
1:17
No I’ve never believed that but many do. Clearly there are better players at every position. I can’t imagine Peterson will be a high impact player
Bernard
1:19
Would any NFL starter other than maybe the most mobile QBs be successful behind this OL?  Mahomes was rendered almost helpless in the Super Bowl under pressure, why should we expect Ben to be successful behind this OL?
Zeise
1:19
Well Mahomes was hurt and couldn’t move. But think about the line Ben won a Super Bowl over the Cardinals with
North Allegheny U

Overall, do you think the transfer portal is a good thing or bad thing for college football and basketball?
Zeise
1:20
It is a necessary thing. But I can’t say definitely it is a good thing or bad thing
1:21
He needs more Pro Bowls and All Pro appearances fo get there but this is a good start for him
Bernard
1:22
What would the Steelers record be at this point if Ben had retired and Mason was starting?  Also, please don't discuss politics or Covid in these chats and your mail bags unless your politics matches my opinions exactly.
Zeise
1:23
I would say they would be 5-3 or 6-2 with Rudolph as well. And I would like their chances down the stretch better

Paul, if Pitt tanks, and it looks like they will, does the AD have enough BIG doners to pay off Capel's remaining contractual obligations, which could amount to more than $12 mil?
