OK welcome back let’s get started!!
Davey

Paul, that Rothskeller fella has some decent size at QB do you think they should make him an end?
Zeise
12:02
Bad start. Let’s do better.

Do you think there's even a remote chance of Notre Dame staying in the ACC beyond this year? I just don't see it especially if they were to win the National Championship.
Zeise
12:04
No and for the same reasons they haven’t joined a conference all these years. They have a huge money deal with NBC, they are a national brand name and have no trouble scheduling and they have a path to the national football playoff without having to survive a conference championship game. There is no reason for them to join a conference.

Paul, will the NHL have a season, and should they?
Zeise
12:06
Wow two days ago I would have said yes. I do still think they will all come to some sort of resolution and figure out how to get one in. They would be well served to think about a shorter season and go from there. Starting in December doesn’t make sense
V. Fontaine
12:06
I don't understand this idea that it would be better for the Steelers to finish 15-1 or 14-2 in the regular season. I thought the point was to win every game you played.
Zeise
12:07
It is irrational fear and superstition. The thinking is the pressure is way more when you are undefeated as opposed to having a loss.
I don’t subscribe to those theories

The Steelers run game is predictable, which is Fichtner’s fault. Ben loves the shotgun too much and hates to turn his back to the play, but the Steelers need him under center more often, need to incorporate the FB at times and need to be more creative in the run designs. Without that, forget developing an adequate run game. The personnel doesn’t help but the play designs are crap. Thoughts?
Zeise
12:10
I think the run game has been bad for a lot of reasons. I don’t believe shotgun is the problem though that has become a talking point. Remember the old run n shoot - they ran the ball out of shotgun and do so very effectively. They just need to come up with better running plays for Conner
Jimmie
12:10
Which is more important in the next draft: a running back or a replacement for Dupree?
Zeise
12:11
The defense is predicated on getting to the quarterback so no question if they aren’t going to re-sign Dupree they need to replace him with another e
pass rusher

What are your thoughts on Pitt hoops? I think they're still going to struggle some again this year but also firmly believe that Jeff Capel has them on the verge of being a Top 15 program.
Zeise
12:13
They are closing in on respectability but Top 15 is still not realistic. I would say this year an NCAA bid is attainable but to become a perennial top 15 team there is a lot of building that needs to happen

How is Bushes rehab going and will he be available next season?
Zeise
12:16
I would hope. I’ve heard nothing bad about him having setbacks so I would assume he is on track

Seems to me Connor is lacking the speed to get to the outside. my feeling is the way he protects the ball and holds it is contributing to this. He seems so engrossed in protecting from a fumble (good thing) but he has to adjust. needs to not worry about fumbling and just play.
Zeise
12:18
I think the most important thing is he is a North-South runner. They need to call North South running plays

Could you explain the OL traits that distinguish good pass blocking vs good run blocking. We hear this about our top five, but I recall Decastro and Pouncey, at least, coming into the league as maulers.
Zeise
12:20
The difference is pass blocking you go backwards. Run blocking you go forwards. Some guys are better at drive blocking and others are better standing up. Some of it is probably schematic and some of it is technique

Can we conclude that the Steelers have officially given up on the running game? If you want to run you sort of need to do it and an occasional first down run that gets a yard or less and sends you back to purely passing isn't really trying to run. And if so, does it matter? It doesn't seem to have been much of a problem so far but what are the limits?
Zeise
12:22
No we cannot conclude that. And the reason is the head coach made it very clear fixing the run game is a priority this week. They need to take a look at the entire operation and make the necessary changes and they are a good coaching staff so they will

RE: WR depth and your mailbag. Isn't the explanation of this year's crop is that the 4 & 5 (Washington & McCloud in some order) are better than any 4/5 the Steelers have ever had, the 3 (Johnson) is as good as ever (tying Randle El) and the 1, 2 though behind Brown, Swann, Stallworth, Ward, and maybe Thigpen, Burress & Holmes all still approximately All Pro?
Zeise
12:25
In the 1970s you didn’t see a ton of four and five wide receiver sets. And when you have two Hall of Famers, you are better regardless of who the third and fourth guys are. Guys who are in the Hall of Fame are considered among the best at their position of all time. The Steelers has two of those guys
CoalportKid
12:25
Thoughts on whether the Browns offensive decline last few games related to OBJ after all?
Zeise
12:25
Obviously that doesn’t help but here is the larger issue - teams have figured out Baker Mayfield isn’t very good so they have done more to stop the run and force him to make throws, which he can’t
Tony
12:26
Why is Ben never mentioned as a MVP candidate of NFL?
Zeise
12:26
He is starting to get that recognition but there are a few others at his position that are clearly everyone’s sexy and top choice
Jimmie
12:27
Would it help the running game to replace #66 with #69 now instead of next season?
Zeise
12:28
If I’m not
mistaken Dotson is on the COVID list still
And no, it was clear when DeCastro was out the run game suffered even more

Hey Paul, was watching the NBA draft when I heard of Klay Thompson’s injury.  If the injury is season-ending, do you think the Warriors consider trading their first round pick James Wiseman to the Celtics for Marcus Smart?  Thanks.
Zeise
12:31
No, I don’t. I think the Warriors would start to think about trading Curry and starting over. It is clearly done for that group in terms of winning championships

Hi Paul, you were spot on about slow golfers. I wss up for the summer and played in a foursome every week at a nice course in Butler. Our motto, when ready hit the ball. We can do 18 in 3.5 hrs if no one gets in our way. We are all in our 70,s and shoot around 90 for 18.
