Some folks think we sign Deebo as a pass rusher. Do you think he can still play at age 42?
Zeise
1:32
No, he is done. He was done three or four years ago. He can’t help them

I like Highsmith but wouldn't bringing in a veteran to help replace Dupree be smart? (Get Healthy Dupree) Someone like Clay Matthews - he only played about 60% of the snaps last year had 8 sacks and 13 TFL?
Zeise
1:34
Are you better off with a guy who hasn’t played all year? I don’t know about that - there are only five games left. How many games would it take him to get in shape?

Pitt’s record against the original schedule would certainly be better than.500, no?
Zeise
1:34
I don’t remember what the original schedule is but I am from the school of thought of Bill Parcells “you are what your record says you are”

Why do you think this Steelers team is such slow-starters?  My dog, Flash, gets off to faster starts than them.
Zeise
1:36
It is really strange. Maybe their scripted plays or game plans need to be adjusted. It does usually take them a few series to get going

Thanks for taking the time with us, Paul.  I realize this is a business, but hear me out re Bud's terrible injury: I have been certain since they tagged him that he was definitely done in Pittsburgh after this season. He's been too productive since early last season at one of the spots on the field that teams are willing to overpay for in FA. And the Steelers have too many other guys that need to be paid, even another guy at the same position.  BUT...the Steelers also have a history of taking care of guys who have deserved it (by all accounts, Bud is exemplary as a teammate, and has played this year on the tag without as much as one complaint in contrast to another high profile player who was last tagged).  His value, unfortunately, probably went down a little last night. I say all this to say I think it's now at least a possibility that he comes back next year on a 2 or 3 year deal. What say you?
Zeise
1:37
I agree, he isn’t negotiating from a position of strength especially given that he isn’t likely to be healthy until late next season. If I was him though I would do a one year deal and hope I can play enough next year to prove I’m healthy and productive again

Thank you Paul ! Losing Dupree is huge no doubt. However , I want to see how Alex highsmith preforms. I like what I have seen so far, even though been limited. I believe TJ presents could open things up for highsmith

There is no question having a guy like Watt makes everyone else’s job easier

Sounds like Pitt and Duquesne both need games.  Chance they might see that?
Zeise
1:39
Zero, well not zero but not really a great chance. Three letters are likely to keep that from happening - E-G-O

Any chance the playing surface at Heinz contributed to the injuries to Bush and Dupree?  Thank you.
Zeise
1:41
No they have done a good job over the past six or seven years of making that field a lot better. It used to be really a disaster. It was once rated as the worst surface in the league but it isn’t any more
Rickey
1:41
We can’t be naive of reality, this Bud injury really decrease our chances big time when adding Bush injury too.. the offense Now really has to step up every aspect of their game if we have any hope for a championship, no doubt in my mind.. how about yours?
Zeise
1:42
Of course it is a huge blow but the Steelers have a lot of good players and can overcome it as long as Alex Highsmith is capable of playing at a reasonably high level

Can someone check how many times the Steeler O-Line was in a two point stance on key 3rd, 4th & short situations ?  My point is you can't run block
Zeise
1:44
It is tough to run block but seeing as this is how they play now as an offense they better improve at run blocking in those formations and quickly, too
Jeff
1:44
Is it me or does Dionte drop the easy catches and then makes insane catches on the tougher balls?  The heater he caught from Ben on the out route was AB like.  Few make that catch
Zeise
1:45
No it isn’t just you, he has to get more consistent at catching the ball. He is a really good player and has some really special talent but has to develop consistency

Bud's injury aside, are we being a little too negative after last night?  A Wednesday afternoon game, 6 days after the game was supposed to be played, delayed 3 times, against a roster that the Jets could probably maybe handle?  Should these guys be able to simply lock in and play like they would've against Lamar and company in front of the whole country on Thanksgiving night regardless?
Zeise

I would say the coach set the tone that this was not a good performance and that the team deserves criticism for it. The coach said that so who am I to argue
Retire21
1:46
is Claypool hitting the rookie wall or did he drop that late because of.....drops?
Zeise
1:46
He has dropped passes all year, that’s something he has to work on and has nothing to do with a rookie  wall
Gregg
1:47
Can everyone now cease and desist with the AFC Title Game vs KC talk? Steelers looked like couldn’t beat KC’s practice squad with how they played last night.
Zeise
1:47
i think that is ridiculous. I would be willing to bet the Steelers would show up and play a great game against KC. That is who they are
SDWC
1:47
Is the continued lack of the ability to run the ball what will stop the Steelers in the playoffs?
Zeise
1:48
Not necessarily but it is an area that needs to improve. It is hard to win if you can’t grind out yards from time to time
Gregg
1:48
I know Highsmith will step in for Bud, but any thoughts on shoring up the OLB depth? Can they use Vince there at times with Williamson and Spillane inside?
Zeise
1:50
I would be willing to bet all of those options are on the table - there will be some sub packages altered and situations where we may see some different personnel on the field
SDWC
1:50
Who do you see as a more talented QB, and with a higher ceiling, Joey Yellen or Davis Beville?
Zeise
1:51
I haven’t seen enough from either to feel confident about the future of the quarterback spot. I’m not sure how good Yellen is even though he has played a lot

Hi Paul! Thanks for the chats as usual. After Pouncey was diagnosed with Covid, I thought all of his close contacts would have to be quarantined for a few days. I assume Ben is in that category along with some other o lineman. Glad it did not happen but curious as to the protocol in that situation. What say you?
Zeise
1:52
They all wear a GPS so those things are easy to figure out. That’s what made the Ravens situation a mess - the coach who was positive and didn’t tell anyone also didn’t wear his GPS around in the building

Hello!  Feeling bad for Bud and the Steelers with his injury. Next man up is Highsmith. What do you think we can expect of him in terms of snaps and skill with more playing time?
Zeise
1:53
If there is a silver lining it is that there are five games left and so Highsmith will get plenty of snaps and plenty of experience before the playoffs. If this happened in Week 17 it would be more troublesome
Mary Quenn
1:53
The less we run the ball the more chance Ben can get injured and that’s the end of our season, like yesterday playing down to a devastated ravens team causing an injury to Bud when he should have been on the sidelines in the 4th with others, but we let ravens stay in the all game.. bad bad bad.. thoughts?
