I predict Big Ben will retire if we win the SB. What do you think he will do if 1) we lose on 1st round 2) we lose on AFC championship game 3) we lose on SB game.

I think he will be back to at least finish his current contract (one more year) regardless of what happens

What is your thoughts on allowing  NCAA hoops players to immediate transfer?  I’ve heard this is being consider to stay in place going forward.  I’m for players getting more say in switching Schools if find a bad fit or coach change but seems this is going to to turn the lower schools into a feeder system for top teams.  You have this a bit already but if no penalty it would really open the floodgates.

I think players should be allowed to change schools without sitting out. I always have. People complain that it would become free agency - it already is. Players transfer all the time now. Just let them be eligible and move on

I'm getting so tired looking at other teams kickers and wondering why we can't drop our kicks deep in the end zone. It's consistently costing us yardage. Wouldn't it be worth drafting a quality kicker, or even spending for one in free agency?

Some of that is philosophy. Some teams believe if you kick the ball short of the goal line you will get returns that don’t get all the way out to the 25 line a touchback. I don’t know the analytics and haven’t studied it enough to know what is right. Boswell is a reliable kicker though and that’s all I care about - “can we get 3 points when we need it?” That’s all that matters to me

It seemed that the secondary was playing really solid man coverage in the first half against Buffalo and then went to a very wide open zone in the second half that didnt go so well.  Why ??

They mixed it up well. Buffalo made a couple of adjustments to try and get Diggs loose and he made a few plays. I didn’t have a problem with the defense at all Sunday to be honest. I think holding that offense to 19 points is a win

What did you think of Ben’s R-E-L-A-X comments?
Zeise

That’s called being a leader. He is telling his guys and the fans “we got this” and I like it to be honest. That’s what you want from the quarterback

I read an article this week saying a big part of the Steeler problem is lack of mental and physical rest due to the NFL not sticking with established covid protocol that was set before the season started.  Your take on injuries and weariness brought on by lack of rest causing the issues.  Merry Christmas!

I’m not a fan of the “we were tired” defense. Was there a mental fatigue? Maybe for the Baltimore game but the other two games didn’t move once they were set so the Steelers knew their schedule

It seems as if the NFL has flexed less games so far this year. Shouldn’t that be an easier thing  to do with no fans coming to the games?

I would agree but I don’t understand how all of those contracts work. I would like to see a lot of the NFC East and games involving the Bears moved but those are five large markets and teams that have followings that go beyond their corner of the world. So we will always get a dose of Giants, Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles and Bears on prime time games. Those teams have brand names. And I forgot it is now the Washington Football Team.

Worst Pittsburgh sports head coach or manager in your lifetime?

Well I guess Mike Haywood is technically not eligible for this. So I could go with John Russell and probably be pretty close to the right answer. Paul Hackett was pretty bad, too and Mike Johnston

Is Juju the #1 priority now in the offseason due to the receivers' issues (for the record, I prefer Bud)? I can't imagine they bring Ben back and ask him to perform with Diontae as the best receiver.

I don’t think so. I think they have bigger needs and I don’t think he has been productive enough to command the kind of money he will likely want. The Steelers are good at finding receivers

Love your work Paul. I'm old. Went to Chuck Noll's first game at Pitt Station. I'm getting turned off by excessive celebrations.

I get it but it doesn’t bother me. It is just a generational thing. And well, us older folks just need to understand that. Again, my only issue is if your team is losing, don’t jump around like a clown.
Well that is it folks thanks for all the great questions!!!!
