Here we are with a man abbreviated chat. I’m in Atlanta getting ready to cover the Peach Bowl
Mr Massive

I say this with all due respect, but it sure looks like Mike Tomlin has lost this Steeler team. All the signs are there. What do you think?
Zeise
2:33
Why do you say that? I’m not sure I agree. I think this Steelers team is just not very good
Still A Chance
2:33
Based on Big Ben’s comments, this is his last season barring a run, right. Also, do you think that Ben will get the ovation he deserves?
Zeise
2:33
I would think he will get a huge standing ovation. I think he will get many of them that night. Steelers fans understand what he has meant to the franchise

Will NCAA 1-AA football survive? It seems like almost every team that consistently gets deep into the playoffs moves to 1-A as Sam Houston State and James Madison are doing. And now 1-A transfers don't need to go to 1-AA to avoid that year of ineligibility.  Will it be left to a few CAA teams and the Duquesnes and Colgates?
Zeise
2:34
Yes there are enough teams who don’t want the expense of playing FBS football that it will survive
Found the New Time
2:35
And in a related question, is it really that better financially for 1-AA teams to make the jump given the increased costs of 1-A over 1-AA?
Zeise
2:36
I think for a lot of those schools it is a losing proposition financially. Some probably make it work. But as UConn found out if you don’t get/stay in a power conference you lose tons of money

Though it's a few months away, how early do you think Kenny Pickett will go in the NFL Draft, and do you think the Steelers would take him if he is available when they pick?
Zeise
2:37
He will be a top 15 pick I would think and if he is I don’t think he will be there when the Steelers pick
Greg
2:37
Paul, I know that writers can't make MT give answers that he doesn't want to, but it seems like none of the writers are willing to take him to task for the way he coaches, poor clock management, poor challenges and has no control of this team, why is he not called out on things like this?
Zeise
2:38
He gets hammered in print and on air about his clock management daily in print and on air. And guys ask him all the time about his in game decisions. I just think he is good at not giving answers
Steeltown
2:39
Paul, Will Tomlin turn the keys over to Ben on Monday Night? I certainly hope so,…
Zeise
2:39
I don’t think he will have a choice. Ha ha
Steeltown
2:39
Paul, I think we need to sell out against the run Monday, and hope our DB’s can cover man to man and our OLB’s can get to Baker. Somehow we have to stop the run in this game. Thoughts?
Zeise
2:41
I would say that you dare Baker Mayfield to beat you. If he does, then you live with it. If you get beat by Nick Chubb and company, shame on you

Paul - after seeing your comment yesterday on Johnny Football, what do you think of Kenny Pickett’s prospects in the NFL? (P.S.: Appreciated the pic from ATL. Thanks for “chaperoning”!)
Zeise
2:43
I think Kenny has something very important going for him that Manziel did not - he is not a knucklehead. That will give him a huge leg up over Manziel alone

Hi Paul, With all needs the Steelers need maybe they should get more draft picks.  TJ is breaking down Cam is getting old and MF is just average.  So if we trade them now maybe we can get a few first and second round picks this year and next year.
Zeise
2:46
It isn’t a terrible thought but you can’t just trade your stars and start over. That is tough to pull off in football. A better plan would be to try and focus on adding talent around those guys next year and solidifying the defense. You can win games with a great defense while you are working on whatever is next on offense

Hey, Paul.  It was fun with the Pickett story this year.  But, what goes through this young man's head:  (1) I'm going to get a massive payday regardless; (2)  I may end up in a black hole with NYJ, Detroit, or other dysfunctional franchise; (3)  1 & 2.
Zeise

I’m sure he says “I worked my whole life to play in the NFL. And this is my dream coming true.”

I watched the recent Mike Tomlin news conference and couldn’t believe the softball questions from the media. The media has a lot of unflattering comments in their venue and turn around and suck up to Tomlin. Questionable play calls, lack of player discipline, clock management never come up. I would have liked to hear Tomlin’s feeling about criticism from Joe Green, Rocky and Ike Taylor, etc.
Zeise
2:48
Please tell me what questions you don’t think were asked

Isn’t the worst indictment of Tomlins     poor leadership be that on more than one occasion the team has rolled over and given up in the words of other teams? If you or I or the people we led did that in our jobs would not we be fired?
Zeise
2:48
I think he definitely conceded against the Chiefs. But I think he was being realistic and trying to keep everyone healthy

For consecutive offseasons ownership has wanted a better running game.  But each season it just gets worse.   After three years this looks a lot like incompetence, or the coaching staff isn't listening to ownership.  Am I missing something ?
Zeise
2:49
It is terrible talent evaluation

2:49
Paul, do you expect Pitt to pound pound pound the ball with a new QB and a bad Spartan defense?
Zeise
2:49
I think they will run the ball a lot yes. I expect Pitt to score a lot of points in this game
Matt
2:49
Does Pitt win tonight?
Zeise
2:49
I think so, yes
AK
2:49
Do you think Leglue has a chance to stay on this roster as a potential risk starter or reserve role due to his versatility? My eyes tell me he has been decent in his limited starts.
Zeise
2:50
If he is a starter they are not good enough. If he is a depth guy that would be a good situation
Dave
2:50
Score and winner for the Peach??
Zeise
2:50
I would say it will be 38-31 Pitt
Matt
2:50
What do you expect from Nick Patti tonight? Vanilla game plan?
Zeise
2:52
No. Not at all. I think they are going to run and gun like they do with Pickett
2:54
This is supposed to be a deeper draft for offensive linemen. The Steelers absolutely need to make sure they spend some draft picks on linemen
