Trade deadline market for high priced under performing hawk players...Toews..Seabrook..Saad?
Gavin Lee
6:33
I'm surprised I have to say this, but Jonathan Toews is not going to be traded.
Seabrook's contract is one of the very worst in the NHL, even with his recent solid play.
They'd get nothing but cap relief for him in trade if they could find a taker.
6:34
Saad is a different story, I think. Even though he hasn't been quite as effective as they'd hoped in his return there is still a huge market for him.
I don't think they would do it, but if they decide to go in a different direction he's one of their biggest chips.

What names could the oilers add to fix their issues? Could someone like Evander Kane make a positive impact? If not, who?
Gavin Lee
6:35
Sure, Kane could have a positive impact. But he is a free agent in the offseason.
They won't be adding any rentals like that.
6:36
Honestly, when I watch the Oilers I'm not sure what is really wrong with them. It just looks like several defensemen have taken steps backwards, and otherwise they're pretty much the same team they were last season.
6:37
It's not like losing Jordan Eberle has completely sapped their forward group of the ability to score.
Or made them all that much slower on the whole.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they went on a run in the second half, or were one of the better teams in the league again next year.
6:38
I still think Adam Larsson and Oscar Klefbom are good players.
I still hate the Kris Russell and Milan Lucic deals.
Nothing has really changed.
Nim
6:38
I was referring to next season of course, this year has gone down as a loss for them
Gavin Lee
6:38
Ah, well they definitely can't afford Kane on the open market
He'll be getting a Draisaitl-type deal somewhere.

Do the knights make any moves at the deadline? Or stand pat?
Gavin Lee
6:39
I think they do probably move out some redundant assets, but they certainly can't move Neal/Perron now.

Maple leafs need more.
What is a bigger need for the leafs. A defenseman or a good steady 4th line center
Gavin Lee
6:40
Well, the defenseman option leaves more upside available. They could use another top-4 guy just like the rest of the league.
Travis Dermott has looked okay since coming up, maybe he's the answer. And they've changed their lineup for the better recently, with Matt Martin sitting in the press box.
6:41
A fourth line center like Brian Boyle would definitely help, but 10 minutes a night isn't going to change a lot of the outcomes.
They need Nazem Kadri scoring again, and a return to health for Morgan Rielly.
Karl
6:41
I feel like O'Reilly would fit really nice on the blues
Gavin Lee
6:42
So many centers.
6:43
One thing that's really interesting about the Blues, is how much they may have saved their salary structure with Fabbri's lost season.
Had he played all year and taken the step people expected, a lot of their room going forward would have been eaten up.
Now, if they let Stastny walk they actually have some good room to add in the summer.

Do Caps really make a move for Mike Green?
Gavin Lee
6:44
The salary cap magic that would be needed would be impressive.
6:45
It's possible, just like anything else. I wouldn't call it likely.
Joey
6:45
Blackhawks window is bolted closed until Seabrook and toews contracts are up?
Gavin Lee
6:45
I don't think it's closed completely, but they definitely don't help. There are some good young players coming up in Chicago though.
You never know when it will click

6:46
Do the Ducks make the playoffs?  Are they good enough right now, or do they/will they add (or sell) at the deadline?
Gavin Lee
6:46
Good enough to make the playoffs, yes.
