I just wrote on him today, and even though all the press is saying they'd like to re-sign him I think it's bluster.

I imagine he's dealt by the deadline, and for just a mid-round pick or B-prospect.

Probably even a little more than that per season.

He'll go in without a ton of centers on the market, and he's about as reliable as they come.

erik karlsson future? he would be pretty pricey for a guaranteed year and a half of control. That being said i know he says he loves ottawa wants to stay but would ottawa want to pay the expensive price tag to resign him?

I don't love the Senators chances of re-signing him long term, but I would be shocked if they move him this deadline.

If something is done, it would seem much more likely to be in the summer when all 30 teams want a piece of the action.

I expect the Kings to at some point, but I'm not so sure about the Jets. They have a long window of contention opening in front of them, and they don't need to do anything right now.

Maybe they don't win the cup this season, but their core is so young and deep that they could just try again and again over the next five years.

Everyone seems to point to Pittsburgh for Kane's best fit, but I'm not so sure. Playing with Crosby and Malkin hasn't always been an easy fit for skilled wingers, and there is no guarantee that Kane would succeed there.

I do think that San Jose, Los Angeles and Anaheim could all put him to good use, though whether any of them are willing is another question.

Neither.

Don't blow it up, but sell off some of the aging assets and continue to build around the younger group.

Chicago Blackhawks having a rough year, i know their core being traded is highly unlikely, do they sell off any players and try out the rebuilding thing or do they try to improve and have a better second half?

Rebuilding thing won't work in Chicago for many years, so they'll have to retool and take another crack next season.

They might move out some players, but remember that they're just four points out of a playoff spot

Paul Byron seems to be completely under the radar in terms of being a trade candidate. Literally dirt cheap and proving last year wasn’t a fluke. He’d have to carry some pretty good value but also fits any contending team

You have to think that they add a goaltender to try and get Tavares into the playoffs.

I'm not sure who it will be though.

Both of those are decent options, as is Michael Hutchinson, Aaron Dell, or Philip Grubauer if they can pry them away while their teams are contending.
