He did swing the big Eric Staal deal though, and has found real value in expiring players.

I don't think you can put Soshnikov anywhere near those other two. Not at all the same career path.
He has just as much potential now as he ever has.

Hutton is great, but Bishop is a Vezina-caliber goalie that the league obviously still valued.
Trading goalies in season is hard to get return on.

I think he probably hits the open market. Not sure if they can pay him what he could get.
Maybe if they give him term and keep the cap hit lower.

Does Hutton get resigned? I think Husso will be the back up next year.

They definitely could go with Husso, but it's not out of the question that Hutton gets re-signed.
If he's willing to take a relatively cheap deal, why not?
