Panarin is five years older than them. That is a lot of development time.

It's in interesting question Danny.

It certainly will be difficult to repeat as President's winners again, but nothing is impossible in the playoffs and they'll certainly get there again.

But the Caps are hurt themselves long term by dealing for Shattenkirk this year, and others before him.

The good news is they have barely anyone on the books long-term, and could jump into a reload phase pretty quickly if they had to.

Matthews was a unique case because of a bunch of factors, including his ability, age and other options..but yes, I think there will be others in the future that try it.
