Gavin Lee

Dibs on Wayne Simmonds.
Robert
6:09
Devils should try to rebuild quickly IMO. Schneider isn't going to get younger.
Gavin Lee
6:09
That's what I think, and it's not just Schneider.
Robert
6:11
Who could jump at Kovalchuk? He prefers New York and Florida right?
Gavin Lee
6:12
He apparently does...take that with a grain of salt though.
A lot of people like the idea of New York and Florida.
6:13
It would be fun to see him and Jagr on the same line in Florida though.
Robert
6:14
Could an RFA reject an offer sheet from another team?
Gavin Lee
6:14
They have to sign offer sheets, so yes of course.
6:15
They just wouldn't sign it.
Po
6:16
Who do you think devils go with with the 1st pick.Who is your NHL comparison to that player?
Gavin Lee
6:16
I think Nolan Patrick will still be the pick.
6:17
I think his ceiling is something like Eric Staal.
And his floor is something like Martin Hanzal.
6:18
I've gone back and forth on who my pick would be.

6:19
What happens to the Capitals now? If you trade Ovie (which they wont), what could they possibly get (hypothetically of course)?
Gavin Lee
6:19
The Capitals likely sign all the RFAs they can and take another run next year.
6:20
It's not like losing in game 7 of the second round means you need to blow it up.
It's frustrating sure, but if Fleury's stick knob doesn't make that save it's a tie game
6:21
Trading Ovi I can't even wrap my head around really.
I'm not sure there is a package that makes sense for either side, because who can afford to bring in a $10MM guy?
Po
6:22
The injuries don't worry you at all?
Gavin Lee
6:22
(This is in regards to Patrick)
They do, definitely.
Which is part of the Hanzal comp.
6:24
But for instance, did you know that Auston Matthews broke his femur in draft -2, and had a back injury in his draft year?
Those are both really serious, and then he went out and scored 40 goals as a rookie.
6:25
I'm clearly not saying Patrick will do that--he's not as good as Matthews.
But if you think he's the best player in the class, take him.
Robert
6:25
Do the OIlers try to sign McDavid this summer?(even though he still has a year left) With it done they could start to plan for the future around it.
What do you think he gets? Gotta be a real contract right?
Gavin Lee
6:26
They will almost certainly sign McDavid to an eight-year extension over the next six months.
But I imagine they'll get Draisaitl's contract done first.
Robert
6:32
Assuming the NHL does skip 2018 olympics. Could the players boycott the next world cup to negotiate for the 2022 olympics?
Gavin Lee
6:32
Unfortunately, the next world cup is already in jeopardy because of the looming work stoppage.
They won't do a 2020 WC if they're about to head into a lockout..and, being it is the NHL, they're probably going to have a lockout.
6:33
In terms of a boycott..the WC is a joint production between the NHL and NHLPA. Should the players not play, it just wouldn't happen. That'll all be in the negotiating table while they're trying to figure out the next CBA.
Robert
6:34
Also, i don't see the World Champs with much purpose compared Olympics.
Yeah, a sad reality...
Gavin Lee
6:34
Agreed.
