How well do players typically translate their WHL success to the NHL. For example Sam Steel had around 130 points, what type of production seems reasonable from him when he makes it to the NHL?

There are equivalency models out there that you can search for, but honestly there is a wide variance due to individual circumstances.

Steel in particular exploded this year playing with Adam Brooks (who exploded last year).

Not everyone can just walk into the NHL and compete. Look at Dylan Strome.
Two huge years in the O, then looked overmatched in his taste this year.

There are other guys who have huge junior careers and never even play in the NHL.

That said, Steel does look like he'll be a top-six player who can put up points with his playmaking ability. Not sure I see a 30-goal man at any point though.

Obviously Draisaitl, Pastrnak, Johansen, Drouin, etc etc etc are all amazing players.
There's probably even an argument to offer sheet them.
But it just is so rare in the NHL.

But, who knows if someone actually gets a deal worked out.
