In all honesty, McDavid vs Matthews for seven games is what a lot of hockey fans would love to see.
But the NHL really wants Edmonton vs Pittsburgh
(Well, they really want Chicago vs Pittsburgh every year, but that's no fun)

They've long been considered a dark horse.
But I have a hard time seeing Rutherford meet Sakic's price before the season starts.
Closer to the deadline, they'd be a leading candidate.

Russia is going to be fine, they have a ton of high-end talent that will still be available.
It will be interesting to see Sweden's roster construction, because so much of their defensive depth is in the NHL.
