Lafreniere was unbelievable?
Gavin Lee
6:34
He is very, very good.
Mike
6:35
Is anyone in worse cap shape than Minn?
Gavin Lee
6:35
I mean the San Jose front office has to be looking at those three D contracts and wondering what to do.
6:36
I'm not sure everyone realizes that Brent Burns turns 35 in two months.
He has five years left at $8MM
6:37
And he's not even the highest paid defenseman on his team.
Hmm
6:37
How about compaired to McDavid and Eichel? Even though eichel was 2nd he wouldve been number one any other year.
Gavin Lee
6:38
I think Lafreniere would come behind them both.
But he may prove to be a superstar right out of the gate. We'll have to see.

6:39
Anaheim has said theyd take on a bad contract for younger talent, do U think theyd help out San Jose with one of those 3 D contracts?
Gavin Lee
6:39
I don't think they're looking to take on long money, if that makes sense
Just clearing room for teams this year or maybe next
Mike
6:39
You mention Carolina, what other teams/gms are gonna get antzy and make some suprise/bad moves
Gavin Lee
6:40
I hope he doesn't, but I would understand if Jason Botterill pushed hard for the playoffs in Buffalo.
The leash can't be THAT much longer.
I shouldn't say that. He can push for the playoffs, but I worry that they will make a short sighted move.

If you were Holland in Edmonton and you were looking around the league for that player that would put the team over the top. Which player would you try to get that would fit under the cap some how?
Gavin Lee
6:41
Well the last part is the tough one right.
One player that is good enough to put a team over the top is either a) expensive or b) a young star
6:42
a is hard to do because of the cap, and b is hard to do because, well no one wants to give up young stars
6:44
I do wonder if they could go out and get a player like Ondrej Kase. There has been rumors in the past about the Ducks not being completely tied to him, and I think he could blossom in Edmonton playing in the top six
But that's just complete speculation.

John Moore for Ryan Reaves. Who says no?
Gavin Lee
6:44
I saw this suggested in the comments today, and I think it's funny.
6:45
Somehow Ryan Reaves is still being pursued in trade talk.
He's such a fun player to watch, it's amazing that he has been able to stay relevant for so long. I love it
I don't think the Golden Knights would want the term though.

Hi, Gavin. What’s a good return Georgiev? I’ve seen Toronto and San Jose mentioned, but doesn’t Vegas make sense?
Gavin Lee
6:47
Vegas would make some sense, sure. He's probably an upgrade on Subban and could perhaps be the heir
I don't think the return is going to be insane, but I do think it will be a player that you don't really want to give up.
For Vegas, maybe Lucas Elvenes and a pick?
Stimpyi
6:48
Would johnsson, bracco and a mid round pick get you georgiev and deangelo from NYR
Gavin Lee
6:48
Hmm, yes probably? I mean I don't know if the Rangers have any interest in either player, but if they do that's kind of what they are looking for.
Bob
6:49
Battle between Islanders / Rangers  who has the most to look forward to over the next 2-3 years?
Gavin Lee
6:49
Heck there may be a couple of playoff series during that time.
The Islanders have a good team and a good system coming, and the Rangers are loaded with young talent.
6:51
I think I would probably take the Islanders system right now, given the young star center in Barzal, but it will be a fun time for Rangers fans too.
6:52
I know Kakko has been disappointing, but he's going to be dominant.

When I watch the Tkachuk hit on Kassian, it almost looks like boarding to me. Do you think there is a chance that Tkachuk could have himself received a suspension for the hit if Kassian had not retaliated?
