I would put it in Vegas every single year
Their event people are the best in the business and it could have some traditions and history
I know that it's a chip to dangle for owners
6:28
But if we're talking about fixing and making it actually fun? Vegas, baby

What are the chances that Draisaitl or McDavid request a trade, should the Oilers miss the playoffs
Gavin Lee
6:28
I would say the chances are very low still
But not zero
And that's what should worry Oilers fans
6:29
The bigger problem may be that there is a lot of research into offensive aging curves, and for the vast majority of players the peak is actually relatively early--23-25ish
Star players usually break that curve a bit
6:30
But Draisaitl is going to be 27 at the start of next season, and they don't have squat to show for it
I'm not saying he'll be bad, or even really decline
But he's probably near the top of that curve now, there's not going to be another level to his game

How would you Power Rank the Central for the rest of the way? Avs seem like the class of the division, with the Blues and Wild in the second tier in my estimation and Nashville slotting in behind them. I'm not ready to give up on the Jets quite yet either. Am I too low on Nashville and too high on Winnipeg or does that sound about right to you?
Gavin Lee
6:31
I was one who thought the Jets were true Stanley Cup contenders, so you don't have to convince me to keep them in the mix
The Avalanche are the class of the division for sure
6:32
I would probably slot the Wild in ahead of the Blues, and Nashville behind both as you say
6:33
I'm not sure if anyone is talking about it, but Jordan Binnington hasn't looked like an above-average goaltender since his rookie season
And this year he looks below it
Husso has been good, but there should be some concern in St. Louis, I think

Any chance Vitek Vanecek is the caps future goalie over Samsonov?
Gavin Lee
6:34
This is another interesting goalie situation, because Samsonov has honestly looked lost at times
6:35
I don't think he's been nearly good enough, and it means there's no clear answer for the Capitals
6:36
They're also both RFAs this summer, which means one might not be returning
Is Vanecek the future? I'm not really sold on that either
6:37
But he's certainly got as much of a chance, I would say

Think the leafs could move mrazek?
should they?
Gavin Lee
6:37
Could they? Probably, but they wouldn't get anything but cap space and with the way Campbell has played lately it certainly wouldn't be prudent
Move him in the summer, maybe, but not now

Hi Gavin,
Hope your new year is going well. Do you see any way that Vlasic's contract can be 'dealt with' other than seeing out the term for SJS? What jersey does Hertl wear in March?
Also, thoughts on Ty Smith disappearing this year? Who do you see NJD using Subban's $ on or do they hold on to it for their up and comers?
Thanks in advance :-)
Gavin Lee

New year is fine, other than the COVID situation I went through early on. All healthy now though.
Thanks for asking!
6:39
As for Vlasic, his contract actually isn't a TERRIBLE buyout option, though it's not great either
I actually would consider it if I'm the Sharks, but I sort of doubt they will
6:40
This will answer some of the other questions I see in the list--Just for me, if I'm the Bruins, Hertl is the player I'm trying to trade for and extend.
6:41
Don't know if they'll go after a fish that big, but it would be a great fit in my eyes
As for Ty Smith, one thing I think we should remember is that these seasons have been anything but normal
6:42
Especially for young players, this isn't the NHL experience that they expected, and it can be a very big change for them personally
6:43
I wouldn't worry too much about Smith's future
As for PK's money, it's already been allocated to Jack Hughes, haha.
