As for who puts in the best bid? Not sure.
I'll put my money on St. Louis right now, but who knows.

How good is Andre Burakovsky really?  Over his head right now or just has the right linemates?  Or is this what he is?
Gavin Lee
7:00
The reason the Capitals held onto him for so long and gave him so many opportunities is because everyone could see that he might do this one day
If you were to build a hockey player from scratch he might look a little bit like Andre Burakovsky.
He has everything you need, and it's finally starting to show
The Capitals just couldn't wait around any longer.

Hi Gavin, The avs were expansion team bad 3 years ago and this year the wings are even worse, is there not enough talent to go around? Is this the norm going foward where we have really good teams and really bad teams? Is expansion going tk make this worse?
Gavin Lee
7:02
There's more than enough talent to go around. Lots of players aren't even getting enough opportunity.
Some teams have just been smarter about how to build it.
The Red Wings will be right back up in a few years, I can almost guarantee that.
They don't want to win this year.

What do you think of the Kings trade with the Maple leaf's
Gavin Lee
7:03
I think it's a pretty nice return for the Kings, exactly what Toronto needed, and a lot of pressure for Jack Campbell.

Sabres are a mess right now. Goalie is an issue to say the least. What would help in my eyes is a tRade with the Rangers for Krieder and Georgiev. Would a 1st,2nd, and a good prospect be a good starting point?
Gavin Lee
7:04
If the Sabres did that, it would be horribly misguided. Adding a speedy winger for a few months isn't going to fix the rotten core that is in Buffalo.
Georgiev is a fine piece, but is he even better than Linus Ullmark? Do we know that for sure?
7:05
The team has their goaltender of the future in Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen
The question is what will be waiting for him when he gets to Buffalo.

And is there any precedent kn trading for a GM!!! Chris Drury tk be included in the deal somehow?
Gavin Lee
7:06
Don't forget that the GM in Buffalo right now was an up-and-coming wunderkind AGM from a Metro team with a playing history
Drury looks like a great candidate to get a team somewhere.
But honestly I think it might be further up the chain in Buffalo.

jets make any moves   ?  Buyers or sellers?
Gavin Lee
7:07
I'd be very surprised if they didn't add a defenseman at some point.
But the Byfuglien situation needs to be resolved first.

7:08
Do see the wings moving  Fabbri by the deadline or is he staying
Gavin Lee
7:08
I think you might see him on the move. I wrote the other day that some of those mid-twenties pending RFAs could be sold off, as they're not really the right players to help the next good Detroit team.
7:09
In terms of what they could get? Not very much at all.
a mid-round pick maybe.

Thanks for the chat Gavin! Look forward to these every week! What is going on with Dustin Byfuglien? Is he being biught out? Can he sign with any team at that point?
Gavin Lee
7:09
He is not being bought out. The two sides are going to come to a mutual contract termination.
He could then sign with anyone, but he's not even skating yet.
To be eligible for the playoffs, he would need to sign before the trade deadline.
7:10
One interesting thing to remember in the Byfuglien situation, is that because there is a grievance filed this can actually be resolved a little differently than a normal termination.
Like Mike Richards with the Kings, there actually could be some sort of salary agreement.
7:11
Now, the Richards one can't be used as precedent, that was part of the original agreement.
But it still might be an option the two sides target.

7:11
They make chAnges now could help convince him to stay. And Rolling Ullmark and Georgiev 1a&1b equally sure seems better than Hutton. Roll them until 6k is ready and move one for an asset later
Gavin Lee
7:12
Hey don't get me wrong. Adding Georgiev in Buffalo isn't the worst idea, but giving away a 1st, 2nd and good prospect for him and a rental winger is not a good move.
