They already did kind of by getting Gauthier--he's another big, fast, winger.

Seems like an interesting trade (Trocheck trade). This season Trocheck has been ok, last season he was not good. Could they have gotten more value from another team with better assets and more cap over the summer?

They're trying to get out of his deal.

I'm not sure the Devils are interested in retaining the $4.5MM that they would probably have to for Subban to have any real value

As Haula is expiring this summer (or if he's moved), is this move partially Dale Tallon looking at long term cap and trying to free up cap space for Florida to try and bring back Hoffman and Dadonov?

It's definitely trying to free up some cap, but also freeing up some playing time
I don't get the sense they will re-sign both of Dadonov and Hoffman however.
