Washington is a good team but is probably a few holes from being the real powerhouse they could be
6:39
And Boston still just doesn't inspire a lot of confidence for me as the big guys age out

if healthy doe erik karlson have much of a trade market?
Gavin Lee
6:39
Unfortunately, no
Too much money, for too long
Sharks will have to eat that for a while
6:40
(He also holds a full no-move, and I don't think Karlsson wants to go anywhere)

Do you see the Leafs making any big deals?
Gavin Lee
6:41
I think they are positioned to make a bigger splash than some may think, thanks to this Muzzin news
If there's a chance he returns for the start of the playoffs, I think that's almost even more incentive to push for another big piece

Does Fleury get moved?  If so, where, and for what return?
Gavin Lee

I kinda say this every year, goalie trades at the deadline are always going to be underwhelming
Remember Lehner, for instance, cost Subban and a second (and a fifth for the middle man)
He was a stud, potential number 1 guy
6:44
That came at a very reasonable cap hit after the retention
Fleury might draw something like that in the right situation, but it's hard because there isn't a run on goalies. Contenders have their goalies already
6:45
Lehner also came with the possibility of re-signing to be the starter (which he did), where Fleury probably doesn't really have that
6:46
Remember also, Fleury has already been a backup on Cup runs. I don't know him, but maybe that kind of dulls the desire to do that again. If he's going somewhere, don't you think he'd want to be guaranteed as "the guy"
How many true contenders have an opening like that
6:47
Now sure, he only has a 10-team no-trade. But Allan Walsh isn't stupid, I'm sure he submitted some good teams to keep as much leverage as possible

Are there any other bad contracts that the Coyotes are trying to acquire during the trade deadline?  I’m thinking that  they should go after Brett Connolly and Carl Hagelin. Is there any one else they that they should try to acquire ?
Gavin Lee
6:48
Those are good examples
Trying to think of other ones in that kind of situation
6:49
I mean if the Oilers go after a goalie, wouldn't it be funny if Mike Smith went back to the desert
6:50
John Moore's contract is still costing the Bruins too much, though they have a bit of wiggle room
6:51
At some point down the road, Tyler Myers is going to seem like an obvious candidate
6:52
In his last year for Vancouver, he is owed 5MM of his 6MM in a signing bonus.
Meaning someone like Arizona would barely have to pay him for 2023-24, after the bonus is given out
6:53
Alright folks, I have to run out the door to go to hockey myself. So I'll stop there. Thanks again, and come back next week!
