Gavin Lee
6:28
But it sounds like there are already some preliminary talks on expansion draft deals
Mike
6:28
Any major moves you see happening in the off-season? Eichel? Kuemper? Maybe Gibson? Laine?
Gavin Lee
6:28
Those are all good guesses, but it's Eichel and Laine that I'll be focused on the most.
6:29
I think Gibson is more of a "I'll listen, but not shopping" kind of thing
Probably the most interesting roster to watch I think though might be the Penguins.
Don't think just because they gave them a reward that Burke and Hextall are 100% in on this roster.
6:30
There are changes coming in Pittsburgh, one way or another

Would like your take on a couple of Blues prospects... I was very impressed with Matthew Kessel during the NCAA tournament and Jake Neighbours has exceeded my expectations on the score sheet so far. What kind of NHL future do you project for for these two? (Bonus points for your assessment of G Colten Ellis as well!)
Gavin Lee
6:32
Matt Kessel may have had the biggest jump in expectations in the entire prospect world this season
He got a bigger opportunity with UMass and seized it better than you could have ever expected
6:33
He's still fighting an uphill battle because he's going to be really tested by the speed of the next level, but he's a legit prospect now
6:34
I was never a HUGE Neighbours guy, but he's certainly doing what he is supposed to do.
6:35
I'm just still not sure if he really has that standout NHL-level skill that will make him a real difference maker
Or if he just settles into a depth chart as another guy
Adam
6:36
Why didn't the Wild make any moves?
Gavin Lee
6:36
I was a bit surprised by that too
6:37
I thought Gusev might be someone they went after (though maybe there wasn't even a race there, given he had ties to Florida already)
They did go after Foligno, but it's probably wise to not outbid the price that the Maple Leafs paid
6:38
I'd watch for them at the draft. With two first round picks and a bunch of young talent already there, they could be dangerous
Dan
6:38
What are your thoughts on the ducks Haydn fleury pickup? Does he ever reach his potential now that he’s in a New Jersey? Thanks!
Gavin Lee
6:38
I was very surprised that they sold him for that little
I know they have others being blocked
6:39
but I still think he can be an 18-20 minute NHL defenseman every day of the week
And not just a throwaway one, one that impacts the game when he's there
I should say that the coaching staff and lots of teammates loved Hakanpaa, at least for stretches this season
6:40
His physicality is infectious, and maybe the Hurricanes value that for this run
Connor🐻
6:40
What you thinking for my Bruins👍🏻
Gavin Lee
6:40
I mean the Hall deal was certainly a worthwhile swing
6:41
Just in the back of my head though, I still can't shake the feeling that the championship window has closed for that group
There is something about them when I watch them that just doesn't have the same "We're better than you and we know it" vibe
6:42
I don't really think Hall can change that
Chip
6:42
Surprised that Adams held onto Reinhart?
Gavin Lee
6:42
Definitely not surprised he held him through the deadline
but I've said before, I'd probably go scorched earth with that roster
Bronson
6:43
If Hall goes to the Bruins and still doesn’t perform well, what kind of deal does he get in the off-season?
Gavin Lee
6:43
Boy, it will be interesting won't it
Because there will still be teams looking to try and lock him in on a multi-year deal at a depressed AAV because of the bad season
So if he wants security, he will be able to have it
6:44
But I honestly think he might just take another one year deal somewhere, if it doesn't work out in boston
And keep trying for that perfect fit
