Haha, I don't think it's very likely at all that the Ducks are going for the top pick
They could have shed several veteran players this offseason if that was the goal

Also, re ducks, what are your thoughts on mason mctavish? Was it a reach grabbing him at 3? Does he have top line center upside? Will they regret not going after someone else?

It definitely wasn't a reach, no one should be surprised by him going 3
I don't think he's a 1C truly, but he's also extremely young.
The thing about McTavish is that he's not like the other top center prospects recently. He's mean and big and fiesty

I think if it were me, I would have taken Hughes, but I am not down on the McTavish pick

Honestly I don't really know. All signs are good so far, so if he plays NHL games, I think it's a big win
But I am worried that people might have huge expectations and maybe be disappointed

So I think they have the foundation to be one of the best defensive teams in the league, to be honest
The problem is I am completely unsure what Hakstol will bring
I think there is enough skill to score enough and compete in the Pacific

The Kraken's draft seemed to foretell of future deals... which have not yet transpired. Are you still expecting action on that front? If not, does that count as a failure? Part 2) Is that owing more to Francis's reputation as a wait-and-see GM or that other teams learned their lesson after Vegas?

It's not just that they learned their lesson. There were clear misses on Seattle's part
The biggest thing for me--and I know this isn't exactly your question--is that they saved all that cap space and then handed a bunch of it to free agents
That makes no sense at all to me
