I haven't really been able to figure out all the subtext in the reporting, why people are being so public and what the goal is.

Love the yzerman rebuild in Detroit. Will Raymond and Seider be stars? And will Larkin be around by the time they are ready to compete?

Seider is one of my favorite prospects, I think he will have a long, successful NHL career.

With any young forward whose game is built on offense, there is a risk they fall flat when they hit the NHL and the same is true with Raymond. But I believe he'll make it and again, have a long productive career.
As for Larkin, I'm not sure.

For a while now I've had an itch in the back of my brain suggesting that he might be too old/expensive to be the leader when this team is really ready to spend money and contend
But I'm just not sure. He's right on the cusp, in that he could still be effective, if a little overpaid, on a good Detroit team if they want to keep him around.

Could he be Tyler Johnson, I guess I'll compare him to.

There was a time that Johnson was one of the best players on the Lightning. He was still around by the time they won, but his role had been diminished and he was a little overpaid
Larkin is probably a better player, but you get the idea.
